Hauntavirus come from rodents, how awful she passed away 6 days before he did AND he had Alzheimer’s what a horrible situation!!!
I assume they found droppings around. They weren’t going to do an autopsy on the dog...but maybe they should.
You’ll be made to take it.
What about the dog?
No more...Hollywood has left the stage.
There are on average 30 cases of hantavirus in America annually with a 35% death rate. So 10 people die of hantavirus every year out of 350,000,000 and Gene Hackman’s wife was one of them? Strange story.
Mouse poop in an enclosed area.
I have a nice heated shop, since winters in Idaho can get a little cool. It’s had a resident mouse killer since day one. Female cats are best because my old tomcat liked to lay around on his lazy butt letting the little girl do the heavy llifting. He’d play ping pong with a mouse occasionally but the little girl walked around putting out murder vibs. Dry, dusty climates like we have with low humidity caused me to pay attention to hantavirus years ago. Mice nest and their mess are nothing to ignore. Cleaning up the nest and droppings requires strong disinfectant, gloves, and proper disposal. The virus may not be there but no one should take chances. IMO
That was huge house.
There could have been a lot of stuff going on with mice in parts of the house they might not have known about.
So sad. She dies first, then he with severe Alzheimer’s disease is with her dead body for days? My God how horrible is that?
Hantavirus, aka the bubonic plague.
Hanta virus was a big scare many years ago when we lived in the high plateau area of Arizona. Was more a concern to us while camping. During that outbreak, residents were warned about being near mice urine and/or any dust they kicked up. People who lived remote and swept cabin floors were really on alert.

Every case I’ve heard about where people survived the Hantavirus to say what happened they were cleaning, usually sweeping area with mouse droppings a few days before they got sick.
I think at press conference they said they found no droppings in home, but did in outbuilding.
It is rare for people to get it, but can be deadly. This whole deal is just so sad.
Had hantavirus and bubonic plague on the worksite (Nevada high desert), probably a few other goodies I didn’t hear about. Vermin control was a serious business.
We were supposed to call the mouse patrol guy if we found droppings or a nest, but if we were seriously pressed for time we were also trained on how to clean it up ourselves.
And leave the rattler/sidewinder/hog nose snake alone. They are excellent vermin control.
