We’re in the middle of a wet rainy weekend. Had some icing but it looks like its melting already.
I’ve been out in the garden some. Uncovered half the asparagus bed to get a somewhat earlier crop and will uncover the rest later.
God some lettuce started and waiting to put them out. I still need to set up for the bucket potatoes and carrots, and will likely sow some turnip seeds after this cold snap. They’re about indestructible.
Onions I started are doing OK. I’ve been losing some and don’t know why.
I’m also going to try shallots.
Let me know how shallots work for you. I had some starter bulbs a few years ago, but I never had any luck with them. I would seriously LOVE to grow my own shallots. I cook with them frequently. Scrambled eggs with shallots, fresh tarragon, mushrooms, and shredded gruyere are amazing. One of my favorite combos.
Shallots are WONDERFUL and very easy to grow. They like sun, mulch, adequate moisture and do not compete well with weeds, so stay on top of that.
Pretty much like garlic, really.
