A high school in Minnesota was forced to cancel a field trip scheduled only for students who 'identify as a person of color' after a civil rights complaint was filed.
Mark Perry, a community member and retired professor in Twin Cities in Minnesota, saw information on the field trip, which allegedly only was available to students who identified as students of color, on social media.
The trip for Highland Park High School offered a chance for students to be exposed to digital marketing and advertising careers, according to Perry.
Perry told the Star Tribune that the event, which has been alleged to have discriminated against white students in the civil rights complaint, violated Title VI of the federal Civil Rights Act.
He also said that it equally violated the district's own anti-discrimination policy.
'They maybe should have understood this was a problem before, but at least once it was brought to their attention,' he told Fox 9.
'That's the least I can expect then, that then they would do the right thing and comply with federal Civil Rights Laws - which in this case was cancelling the program or maybe it was too late to open it up to all students.'
Within hours of contacting the school, he received a messaged back that said the trip had been canceled.

the problem is they get a pass on being racist, all minorities get a pass on it. Asians are the most xenophobic of them all, but nothing is ever said about that.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
This kind of racist is what blacks protested against in the 1960's and now they are practicing the very thing they claim to hate.
What hypocrites.
I'm glad to hear people are done with it and there's pushback.
Last time I checked, white is still a color.
Go figure.
I remember driving by some public housing that was under construction when I was around four years old. My Dad commented that the housing was for ‘Colored People’. I’d never seen a black person up to that point, and in my mind we were talking folks in shades of green, blue, red, etc. I asked what color hair they had. “They all have black hair”. That completed the picture in my mind...
“They need a day without Whitey so they can act natural and be themselves.”
How are they going to do that without somebody to sucker punch and rob?
He is a community member and a retired professor, in other words, he is not a part of this school district.
That means it took a complete outsider to bring this up and demand a correction.
Everybody at that school must have been just fine with openly discriminating against the white students. Imagine how devalued and unwanted those white students were made to feel. No student should experience such overt bias and ‘othering’ from the adults in charge. That’s unchristian and unamerican.
How about “abolish government schools”?
So they cancelled the trip rather than include white kids? Wow.
Well, instead of the “to the field” return trip for those interested, I’d opt to stay home.
“person of color” = non-whites
Well, if you think about it, we are ALL colored, or else we would be transparent (see through).
They want to make a stink, we can too.
IOW, non-whites.
don’t forget the diddun do nuffins.
white liberal ‘elites’ carrying the “burden”.
While not based on race, I ran into something equally discriminatory. The people running the school system are incompetent, venal, and stupid.
In Polk County Florida in the mid-90s my daughter attended a middle school for 6th grade. The school decided on a fundraiser for more computer stuff, which pissed me off to begin with because I pay enough taxes I don’t have to go out and raise money for the school to provide proper education.
In any case what the school did was the kids were supposed to go out and sell something wrapping paper I think it was. If they did not bring money in they were required to sit and study hall all day while the kids who brought money in could attend a big carnival on school grounds. In other words they were extorting children. I went to the principal and said you can’t do this he said well yeah we can. And I said you’re extorting children, my daughter does not want to go out and sell crap for the school. He said why don’t you just buy the stuff, that’s what most parents do? I said I’m not giving you money. And you’re not going to put my child into what amount to detention for not giving you money.
I had to end up talking to a member of the school board who had the balls to tell me that I was making a big deal of nothing. I said tell that to my attorney when he comes with me and my daughter on Friday . They backed down. The school principal called me in the morning and said all kids were going to be allowed to attend the carnival.
I wish I could say that was the only thing I dealt with over 4 years with those idiots. Half of them shouldn’t have been allowed around children in my opinion.
DOGE probably canceled the govt, funding source.
Pink is a color. And since we're now (or were) able to legally identify as any race, sex, or species ...
