The couple's once in a lifetime holiday was overshadowed when a woman died mid flight and was placed in the seat next to them.
An emotional Australian couple have been left "traumatised" after they were forced to sit next to a dead woman for hours after she died suddenly mid-flight.
Mitchell Ring and Jennifer Colin were on a Qatar Airways flight from Melbourne to Doha, en route to Venice in Italy, when a woman suddenly collapsed in the aisle after going to the toilet.

Makes sense to me. They could at least disable one restroom.
To: DallasBiff
I find it unfathomable that the airline would do that.
There had to be SOME other options.

Bad move by the flight attendants. Have they not heard of carrion luggage?

I was picturing a different accent - “She’s not dead, she’s resting.” Add “pining for the fjords” and “shagged out following a prolonged squawk” and there should be no problem.

Retired airline captain here: So, it took 90 - 90! - posts before someone suggested putting her in a lav? After all there are 4-5 of them on larger aircraft.
And, since I’m now in my 16th year a volunteer law enforcement chaplain I can assure you that decomposition begins to occur quickly after death. The smell is unmistakable - ask any cop, fireman or EMT. If seated in a lavatory it would be vented overboard.

Definitely worth drinks on the house for the rest of the flight. But then I would spend the rest of the flight watching to see if she blinks.

I would’ve asked for her peanuts Airlines don't hand out bags of peanuts anymore!
Allergy risk!
This situation is brimming with material for stand-up comedy!
If I had been sitting next to the corpse, I would have loudly engaged it in small-talk, so that the other passengers and flight attendants could hear.
"So... This your first time flying?"
"So... What do you do for jet-lag?"
"I hear the in-flight movie is going to be 'Night of the Living Dead.'"
"Okay... Who cut the cheese?!"
"Would you like to have a religious conversation?"

Its not like it was a long dead corpse, fresh killed is probably not too bad as long as the bowels don’t release too much fluid. Yeah, it probably wouldn't release more than a quart or so of bodily fluids and fecal matter into the cabin.
Corpses have absolutely no control over their bladders and bowels, so buckle up and enjoy the ride!

I don’t like that they put the body in a seat next to someone. There must have been a better solution, but...I wasn’t there, so I can’t say for sure. If the plane had had at least one lavatory they could spare, they should have locked the corpse into it.

I don’t think the hold is available for access from the passenger compartment That's what they would like you to believe!
