USM grad testifies at hyperpartisan congressional hearing on government efficiency

Dylan Hedtler-Gaudette challenges some of President Donald Trump’s early moves to increase the efficiency of the federal government, pointing out that the inspectors general he fired focused on rooting out waste, fraud and abuse.

Dylan Hedtler-Gaudette is the Director of Government Affairs at the Project On Government

Oversight (POGO),
a nonpartisan independent watchdog organization. Dylan leads POGO’s
advocacy efforts and has worked on policy reform related to a wide range of good governance
issues, including defense spending, foreign influence, government ethics, and federal court
reform. He has testified before Congress multiple times, including on waste and inefficiency at the
Department of Defense, undue foreign influence and the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA),
and judicial ethics reform.
In addition to testifying before Congress as an expert witness, Dylan has written extensively on a
range of issues, including congressional power of the purse reforms, emergency powers, and
congressional stock trading. Dylan has also been quoted in the Washington Post, Fox News,
Politico, the Washington Examiner, Business Insider, the Washington Free Beacon, among others.
Dylan obtained undergraduate degrees in economics and political science from the University of
Southern Maine and a master’s degree in international relations from Northeastern University.
