More subfreezing air would also surge into the Upper Midwest, allowing for heavy snow to develop north of the swath of ice.
“Don’t be married to the location, but get married to the idea that the upper echelon of ice accumulation could be a tenth to a quarter,” FOX Weather Meteorologist Britta Merwin said. “That’s enough for power outages. So, know that travel is going to be disrupted, but also we could lose power. So, it’s a good idea to grab extra supplies if you’re in the zone.”
With scenario two, a weaker low-pressure system would develop in the Plains, and a new coastal low would form along the East Coast and take over the dominant system.
A weaker low-level jet stream would mean less widespread freezing rain. However, some areas like the Ohio Valley and Pennsylvania could still see a significant ice threat.

No, not a “crippling” ice storm.
What is it now, every winter storm is going to affect millions?
Every winter storm has ALWAYS affected millions. This is just to hype climate hysteria. That is all it is.
It’s so sad that kids will never know what snow is like.
And now I know another reason why I don't have a dog.
The first “potential” catastrophic ice storm was predicted around here six weeks ago. I checked the generator, propane and all that stuff. Not much point getting excited about it at this point.
Yeah, but is this bomb cyclone and or atmospheric river?
If not, not sensational enough for me to care.
“Plus, the cold temps kept the weekend crowds away.”
Plusses and minuses. 😁
Its both!
Great...I’m heading to Florida tomorrow.Changing planes in Charlotte.
The kind of weather that orthopedic surgeons love.An hour drive down I-91 or I-84 and you’ll be at Yale New Haven.
Yup, according to the models it looks like we’re gonna get some ice, on the low end but we’re gonna get it. I just bought a 25# bag of ice melt for our little sidewalk and rear porch. Just gotta get a few provisions and we’re good.
It’s been a few years since we have been able to Ice fish at Highland Lake and Congamond so there is that silver lining we have. I broke my ankle, elbow and dislocated my shoulder because of a fall on the ice a few years back right in my own driveway. Now I put on cleats when I go out.
Chemtrails at it again.
An ice storm wouldn’t surprise me. If surfaces don’t warm up today before it starts raining tonight, it’s going to freeze on contact.
And then there’s Wed/Thurs.
“There will be no snow in winter. The icecaps will melt. The oceans will rise and flood all the cities near the ocean.” But I did get filthy rich with my carbon credit scam selling carbon credits. Rich enough for a seaside mansion in Montecito California which I fly to in my private carbon burning jet. Life is good for me.”
Al Gore (release my chakra)
One of my best investments years ago were the ice cleats to go on the bottom of my boots. Kind of like cramp ons but with points that are about 1/4” long. I strap them on the bottom of my work boots.
I have a sloped driveway up here in NH. Prior to those I have slipped and slid down that driveway.
Plowing on Saturday morning I slid a couple times in my Massey Ferguson cab tractor. Nothing like sliding backwards or sideways in a 4000# tractor to get your attention.
I had to stop and spread some sand on the hill just to be able to get back up even in 4WD with the rear differential locked in.
....spent 6 years in Syracuse while at S.U. ....talk about cold....winter of 1967-68, 18 degrees blow zero for a frikkin’ week solid.....supposed to be a balmy 79 degrees today here in Central Texas; 78 tomorrow.....
Family is pretty much New Yorkers. One of my sons went to Syracuse...circa 1985...He’s enjoying his years in Virginia these days...
WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!
AGAIN!
