We just went to our local Wal-Mart in Bluffton SC. Armed security at each entrance. My husband got to talking to one and asked if there was a problem in the store. The reply was NO, it is a new policy and will be from 11am til closing every day. Asked if they are authorized to use force if necessary and was told, “YES” there is a new President, new rules,”.
Has anyone else seen this or has it been a policy at other stores? We were stunned.
He said Bluffton SC
Reminds me of Mexico. Forty years ago I went into a store to buy a six of Carta Blanca and a federal policeman with an automatic weapon on his shoulder was my clerk.
My brother in law is retired in Bluffton in a retirement community. Lots of retirees there
Any comments on why WalMart can use or threaten deadly force to protect their property but we peasants may not?
Yeah. Until later in the Biden years, Walmart never prohibited shoppers to carry guns on the property. Walmart is the trend setter in retail and in many ways socially. I’d prefer that Walmart be the trend setter and not Starbucks, Ben and Jerrys or JC Penny.
Ever check out the Religious section of Targets? Mostly pro-Islam books and the closest book to Christian and one claiming Jesus may have had a wife.
Compare that to the Christian books at Walmart.
HiltonHead/Bluffton, SC. They were the Beaufort County sheriff department. Since this area has been overrun by illegals, my husband believes that is probably why they are going with armed deputies. We thought it was odd when they answered, “new President”, so we are now wondering if this might have something to do with the new deportation laws.
You are NOT incorrect.
Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Some hired security interprets and incident and decides to shoot someone, and the person he shoots was acting strange but is actually autistic, mentally disabled, or something like that.
I’ve never seen anyone other than the old guy who sometimes wants to see a receipt. But I don’t spend a lot of time at Walmart either.
They were Sheriffs deputies of Beaufort, SC.
Astonishingly, my 93 year old mother sometimes insists on being taken to "the Walmart where the policewoman was killed" because they tend to have good prices and a wide selection of orchids.
The find out if they are there on duty - or hired off duty. There is a difference but still.
The fact that one elected government official can decide on a whim between law-and-order or anarchy for millions of people is troubling in itself. That’s a system with a built-in flaw.
Fort Worth area, too. I worked off duty for a pharmaceutical delivery company. It’s been years since then but there used to be lots of robberies and burglaries of drug stores and such. I hope it’s better now.
Good point and not sure, but was wearing Beaufort County uniform.
Must have eggs on the premises.
Here in Texas we have armed customers keeping an eye on things.
I live in the Albuquerque metro (not Albuquerque, itself). Many big box stores have put so many items under lock and key it's to the point you can't shop anymore because you can't find someone to unlock the damned product. You also can't put it in your cart. They have to take it up front for you.
I remember being in Bluffton in the 1980’s and they still had segregated stores. I remember the Amaco was the Black station because I only had an Amaco card. A good friend lives there now.
The one I go to in Hammond, Indiana has had police presence for a while — either Indiana State Police or Lake County Sheriff — in the checkout area. Of course, it’s a stone’s throw from the south side of Chicago.
I live on Hilton Head and ocasionally shop at the Walmart here. I haven’t seen any armed security there.
What’s with the Sam’s Club close by? I was planning to go there tomorrow.
Bluffton isn’t a ghetto.
