I’m sure the Hac gave the controls to the copilot at some point because that’s what you do when teaching. After her failures in altitude control ie breaking the course rules, I’d have took them back.

I’ve begun to wonder if the 500 hour sophomore pilot was hot-dogging it, grossly misjudging her ability to fly in close quarters, and not fully aware of the size of the flying “automobile” she was “driving”. She saw the plane, but from her point of view she could see that her body was going to easily go under the plane, and so was the whole body of the helicopter. Tragically, the rotors were not.
