These knot heads land on my shop roof. Strut around for a bit and honk a few times. As soon as they spot the pond which is about 200 yds farther south they bail for a short paddle/swim. They fly fairly low and the shop is in a bank of trees so they probly can’t see the pond from very far away. The shop roof is fairly large and flat and grey so it may look like “ground” to them?

If they land, it looks like water to them.
Hunting in the cornfields around here, we lay down 6-mill Visquine sheets to fool them into thinking there is water there.
Works quite well.
