Gulf of America is a different kettle of fish. The Persian Gulf is called by some the Arabian Gulf. So, there is a precedent for ahving two names simultaneously

Harry Reid, who is very familiar to all of us here at FR. I don't think that President Trump intended for the world to change their maps on his say so. I think the Executive Order would just be for the United States to refer to the Gulf of American in all internal and external communications. It's up to the rest of the world to translate that into whatever names they want.
