DUNDALK, Md. (WBFF) — A water outage at Holabird Middle School on Friday morning led to controversy after an alleged decision by the principal to use buckets for bathroom emergencies was leaked to the public.
An internal email, reportedly from the principal, suggested that in the event of a severe bathroom issue for students, "we'll have a bucket they can use inside the bathroom." This message, along with photos, quickly spread on social media, sparking outrage among parents.
Don Heinerichs, a concerned parent, expressed disbelief over the situation. "I saw... it was all over Facebook," he said. "When I saw that I said, there's no way that can be real."
Chrissy Jackson, another parent, was at work when she learned of the principal's alleged response. Her 10-year-old son told her about the situation after being picked up from school. "His teacher told him at 10 in the morning they better go use the bathroom now before they put the buckets in there," Jackson said. "The whole school will only be able to use the bathrooms in the buckets for emergencies only and they had teachers and the principal blocking all of the bathroom doors."
Baltimore County school officials responded to the incident, saying a community water main break caused very low water pressure at the school. A spokesperson said that the issue improved within an hour and claimed there was no impact on school operations or instruction.
However, Jackson disagreed, saying, "My son was definitely impacted by it." She added, "He said... I was so happy that you sent somebody to pick me up because I really had to use the bathroom and I wasn't going to use the bathroom in a bucket in the middle of the bathroom where the kids could see in there and see me."

poor custodians
Why couldn’t they just use a cat box? Declare it Furry Day.
Haven’t the wierdo they have teach classes educated the kids on Golden Showers?
Nothing is wrong. How many hours would it take to get all of the families on site to pick up the kids?
Oh, just send them home. Can’t quite do that.
I assume that they had porta potties coming in but that also takes a while. There’s a large porta potties company about ten miles from there, but if their trucks were out, it would take a while to get them back and loaded.
As a backpacker I’ve wished for a bucket at times. We have a folding toilet in our Overland camping rig. It’s a folding toilet seat that uses a trash bag.
We’re raising sissies who can’t even take a dump in a bucket without withering.
This is just a drop in a bucket compared to the school’s other problems.
Tell us Don, that you sit down to pee, without telling us you sit down to pee.
And since when do they call it a “bathroom emergency”? It happens every day.
Better, cancel it for the rest of the year. Out of “an abundance of caution”. Why take a chance

Today young skulls full of mush, you are going to experience history.

Sounds like the principal would make a great vice-president for Kamala’s next presidential run.
Folks,
what would YOU have done if you were the principal?
you don’t know if the water main will be fixed or not.
1) do nothing
2) send kids home
3) find buckets
4) ?
what a bunch of complaining parents and pansy kids.
Did not go to the article, but I am wondering if the bucket was there to use to flush the toilet.
We are currently having a snow storm in Maryland and, in my area, icing is predicted. Just in case we lose power — we have a well — I have a bucket at the ready just in case it is needed for flushing.
We went on a cruise years ago on a small ship up the St. Lawrence river over to New York. Did some research on it out of curiosity and it ad gotten so bad in later years that they told passengers the AC worked better as the ship sailed and they brought on board a couple dozen port a potties because the plumbing broke in part of the ship. Company went bankrupt and the bank took possession of the ship in South America and all passengers had to find their way home.
What the heck was the principal suppose to do?
Oh wait. Litter boxes and identify the kids as furries.
