There’s No Excuse This Time—The Secret Service Must Keep Donald Trump Safe For Inauguration
American Greatness ^ | 18 Jan, 2025 | Michael A. Letts

Posted on 01/18/2025 5:53:15 AM PST by MtnClimber

Law enforcement veteran Michael Letts discusses the importance of safety, especially after what’s happened in the past.

Next week will mark a triumphant return for American standards, as former President Donald Trump is set to re-take his position in the White House and undo a majority of catastrophic mistakes made by the Biden administration over the past few years. It’ll take time, effort, and patience, but I know he’ll get the job done.

That said, I need to implore the Secret Service—and all major security involved—to do their jobs for next week’s inauguration.

It’s no secret that some are displeased that Trump is returning to the White House. Those folks who voted for Kamala Harris in the hopes of a “brighter tomorrow” are no doubt bitter about Trump toppling their candidate—and may stop at nothing to show their anger over the situation.

That said, it appears that the Secret Service, believe it or not, is ready to do its job. The Secret Service agent who’s in charge of the inauguration just announced that the whole event is a “higher threat environment,” and that they’ve activated every possible resource to keep him safe.

This includes a “slightly more robust security plan” that’s been in the making over the past year and involves reportedly over 25,000 law enforcement and military personnel. For that matter, CCTV will also keep close eyes on the event, just in case anyone is out of line.

Many people think this may be overblown for a “simple” inauguration. But given the current climate that the world is seeing—and just how far someone will go to voice their opinion—it’s a time in which safety must be the top priority.

And if you need a reminder of how badly the Secret Service could blow it, let’s go back a few months to July 13, 2024, in Butler, Pennsylvania.

As you’re aware, a lone gunman attempted to assassinate Trump, coming within mere inches of hitting him in the head, instead grazing his ear. But the fact that a gunman could position himself at an event where the Secret Service was supposed to do its job is a scary thought. And that leaves me wondering if some poor fool may plot the same come next week.

I would like to say I have faith in the Secret Service, but it’s so hard to tell right now. Obviously, there was fallout from what took place in Pennsylvania, including the departure of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, indirectly taking the blame in an effort to keep pressure off her fellow agents.

Not to mention that a rifleman attempted to strike at Trump at his own Golf Club just a few months later, and an averted assassination attempt at a Coachella, California rally, where an armed man tried to pass through a checkpoint.

Honestly, the Secret Service needs to make sure everything goes according to plan this time. Can you imagine the sheer fallout that would come from a successful assassination during an inauguration? There would be bedlam—an unfathomable amount of bedlam that would be nearly impossible to recover from.

Not to mention the divide it would create. As if the world didn’t already see enough of it, you’d see people cheering on the assassin for “carrying out his job” (see the case surrounding Luigi Mangione if you need more evidence of this) while others would no doubt want to retaliate for what happened to their beloved president.

We cannot divide our country any further. We need to unite and come back together as a country. I have a deep gut feeling that Trump will certainly get the job done, as he did years before. Now we just need his Secret Service agents to do the same—at any cost—to make sure he gets back to work.

As for the officers and military soldiers taking part in keeping Trump—and America—safe, you have my heartfelt thanks. Keep doing what you’re doing.

Doing the inauguration indoors will greatly increase security. President Trump can use the underground tunnels to get to the Capitol and stay out of view of windows and rooftops and drones.

Some criticized his portrait for inauguration. I think it was perfect. It had a Don’t Tread on Me look. I’m glad the writer has some reservations about the SS. I’m certain he would about the FBI, the 51 heads of security organs who signed a false and lying document, and the Generals planning to undercut him. It was mentioned yesterday that 7 four-star Generals won WWII. Today there are 44 such Generals.

Having it inside is a good move. It will be a MAGA rally.

Trump will use his private security force, like he did last time and stay alive!

It’s going to take at least a year to clear out all the RATs nests in the executive branch.

I don’t know why they need to have an inauguration ceremony with outsiders in attendance. He should take the Oath ASAP (the Constitution requires only that he take the oath before he assumes office on the 20th. In fact, he might not technically have to take the oath at all since he took it 8 years ago.)

So he should take the oath in private, have it recorded with a time stamp, and he automatically assumes office at noon on the 20th. There’s no need to have the inauguration ceremony at all on the 20th where there is any risk to him.

The inauguration is unnecessary.

Trump needs to take the oath in front of an official authorized to administer oaths this weekend. He becomes President automatically at noon EST on Monday, and at the same time becomes commander in chief of the Army and the Navy.

If it’s safe to have a ceremony which ILLUSTRATES the transfer of power, fine, have it. But don’t take chances for a photo op.

Trust me, I get both of your concerns. Thing is, Americans do like their ‘pomp and circumstance’. It’s tradition, and that’s why they have the ceremony.

It’s only in recent times that, with increased communications and the increased ability for the public to see and hear just how much certain people don’t like (read “utterly loathe’) people like President Trump, that our concerns with his safety are at the forefront.

I wish I could agree, but I see the media and the Democrats questioning Trump's cabinet picks going back to their normal ways. They are united in their message: "Let's hate Trump".
