“The state of Oklahoma should be proud,” Orsburn reportedly said near the end of the ceremony. “90th Troop Command should be proud. The 1120th should be proud. And I certainly am.” Before going abroad, the soldiers will spend a few weeks in Fort Bliss, Texas, to complete their post-mobilization training. Their deployment comes as nearly

Where I work, huge big fields are cleared and then hundreds of White, Habitat for Humanity workers come in for a few days to build dozens of houses. They leave and then a lot of really lucky black folks move in. No one has ever given me anything other than immediate family.

Why should the OK National Guard go to Carolina when their own troops are not there?

What the Flock? Americans need to knock off the BS and tell the damn Africans to do something for themselves sometime. Build their own homes. If I was in the Oklahoma NG I’d be long gone before I join their Habitat for Freeloaders.

Buildings homes for people, whether for profit or out of charity, is a private agenda that the government has no business being in. To use people's tax dollars to do so, moreover, is an act of slavery.

Communist ideology teaches that central government is the solution to all problems. That is the mentality of the people who thought this would be a good idea - stealing from private citizens, and then using their money to build something and patting themselves on the back. It's despicable, anti-American and corrupt to the core.

How well do those “lucky black folks” take care of these homes? Do they allow them to get run down or do they take care of them?

I’ve noticed there is a lot of turnover. Always different folks moving in so I don’t know what the criteria for keeping a more or less free house is.

I’ve never lived near Habitat homes, but that doesn’t surprise me.

You would think there would be plenty of university studies for masters and PhD theses in economics and government on the effectiveness, or lack thereof, of Habitat in helping people out of poverty. Looking at it from a long term perspective, that sort of thing.

If those do not exist, we can pretty much assume it is because it really doesn’t do much.

A year or so back, some SC National Guard were sent to Djibouti to do some civil engineering work.

I knew one of the LT’s from my regular job.

There is stuff to be done here.

Why wouldn't they do premob before they deploy...?
