Trump ramps up threats to gain control of Greenland and Panama Canal (Liberal fear mongering alert)
BBC ^ | 1/8/2025 | Davies and Wendling

President-elect Donald Trump has reiterated his desire for the US to acquire Greenland and the Panama Canal, calling both critical to American national security. Asked if he would rule out using military or economic force in order to take over the autonomous Danish territory or the Canal, he responded: "No, I can't assure you on either of those two. "But I can say this, we need them for economic security," he told reporters during a wide-ranging news conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Both Denmark and Panama have rejected any suggestion that they would give up territory.

Trump also vowed to use "economic force" when asked if he would attempt to annex Canada and called their shared border an "artificially drawn line". The boundary is the world's longest between two countries and it was established in treaties dating back to the founding of the US in the late 1700s. The president-elect said the US spends billions of dollars protecting Canada, and he criticised imports of Canadian cars, lumber and dairy products. "They should be a state," he told reporters. But outgoing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said there isn't "a snowball's chance in hell" of the two countries merging. Trudeau says 'not a snowball's chance in hell' Canada will join US Trump's eyeing Greenland - but other Arctic investment is frozen When does Donald Trump take office as US president? Trump's news conference - less than two weeks before he is sworn in for a second term - was initially billed as an economic announcement to unveil a $20bn (£16bn) investment from Dubai developer Damac Properties to build data centres in the US. But in a free-wheeling appearance, the president-elect went on to criticise environmental regulations, the US election system, the various legal cases against him, and President Joe..

I keep hearing about this invasion proposal by leftists but can’t actually find any evidence of it. Even this BBC article has a link but when I followed or it only said there are no plans for military force over Greenland and Canada.

Now on the Panama Canal I’m not so sure, I always thought it was a questionable move by peanut head to give it away and I also understand the CCP are making moves on it. We may have legitimate legal rights to use force if we suspect it’s in danger of communist control.

'We may have legitimate legal rights to use force if we suspect it’s in danger of communist control. '

That went out the window when the gop and dems granted China Most Favored Nation Status. That was the all clear that Commie China was fine to trade with.

I heard that Trump is planning to invade - and then annex - the Duchy of Grand Fenwick. Pass it on. With a little luck, the idiots at the BBC will do a story on it.

P.S. If you are already familiar with the Duchy, then you are truly a connoisseur of fine cinema.

Drill Drill Drill!

Include the Gulf of America in the Mix. The glowBullistas and bidEn admin saying no to drilling the Gulf of Mexico.

Well, all bets are off if we drill the Gulf of America.

I also understand the CCP are making moves on it.

The CCP controls the ports at both ends of the Canal and controls many other ports in the Caribbean.

One bold move that I’d love to see: Make English the official language of the USA. If we want cohesion as a society, one very good place to start is with a common language.

Want to speak another language among family and friends - fine. But schools, businesses, government, road signs, etc. should not have to cater to you. Do what many of our ancestors did, learn the correct language.

I 100% agree. Why should our ballots be written in many languages? When an immigrant becomes a naturalized citizen, part of the test is to demonstrate proficiency in English.

Another part of the test, in fact the oath of allegiance, is to forswear allegiance to any other country. While making English the official language of the USA, we need to end dual citizenship as well.

Prime Minster Count Rupert Mountjoy: We must declare war on the United States.

Benter: But we can never win such a war!

Prime Minster Count Rupert Mountjoy: Of course not, but we could win the peace. I’ve given this a lot of thought gentlemen and I’m perfectly positive that I am right. You must remember, the Americans are a very strange people. Whereas other countries rarely forgive anything, the Americans forgive anything. There isn’t a more profitable undertaking for any country than to declare war on the United States and to be defeated.

The only military action Trump would ever consider is with the canal. Does anyone think Trump is going to have the Seventh Fleet park off the shores of Canada or Greenland and light up the guns and launch F18s?

10 years before The Mouse that Roared was another comic gem on a similar theme, Passport to Pimlico.
