Here is an interesting concept. Let’s say he is sentenced but any punishment is set aside. But in reality he is a convicted felon. Now, as president of the united states and a convicted felon, how would he be able to proceed as a felon and not have access to the nuclear football since it is a weapon and be a violation of the law. I guarantee if he is convicted, the left will bring that concern to the front and say because of that, he is ineligible to be president.
Which law?
SCOTUS has ruled that POTUS has immunity for official duties. He is not obligated to follow the law regarding petty issues.
Hey, I was asking what would happen if the left threw out this scenario as an excuse to declare the president ineligible to have access to the nuclear football since he would be a convicted felon and what would be a remedy for it. You think they will not be grasping at straws to do whatever they can to sideline Trump?
All this drama over legally writing checks. Ridiculous.
Oh I agree but we are dealing with the left and they will try anything.
The Supreme Court has jurisdiction over this. The State of New York has convicted Trump of violating Federal election laws.
Applauding! Best post today.
It doesn’t matter is my point. Who cares what those clowns think? They are making crap up and making those week-kneed spaz out. They can’t sideline Trump.
They would have sidelined him except he had the resources to fight back.
He could pardon himself 😂😂😂😂
“What does any of that have to do with what I posted.”
Do your homework.
are you now answering for other FReepers who ask me a question?
“are you now answering for other FReepers who ask me a question?”
You ducked my question.
The President does not have possession of the bomb, nor does he have possession of the nuclear football.
All he has is an authorization code.
The President never carries the nuclear football.
His job is not to be the quarterback, it's to be the coach calling the plays. He never even touches the Nuclear football.
Another good point.
Further, if he was considered to be in possession of every single conventional artillery shell, every single grenade, every single Claymore mine.... and standard BATFE laws applied... wouldn't he need to pay a 200$ tax for each Destructive Device and wait for the BATFE to clear him?
eastforker is right to imagine any bizarre scenario the left would try, but this particular one has no legs.
You do know that the law also says a prohibited person may not have access also. It has been litigated that a married couple, one a felon the other not, the one who is not can not have a weapon in the household if the prohibited one has access to the weapon.
I'm tempted to go down this path with you to demonstrate its absurdity, but I'll refrain, and just note that this is completely absurd... for the reasons I have already detailed.
I’ve always had my doubts about the “nuclear football”. Are we really supposed to believe that we telegraph to our enemies where the keys to our nukes are?
That is probably their plan.
