U.S. Virgin Islands Delegate Stacey Plaskett protested the nonvoting status of the Virgin Islands and other U.S. territories Friday— sparking mixed reactions after she accused the U.S. in House floor remarks of having a "colonies problem."
Combined, she noted that the delegates excluded represent some four million Americans and what she said was "the largest per capita of veterans in this country."

Add PR to Canaduh [-Quebec] as a 51st State.
PR to Spain.
There’s nothing stopping them from demanding a referendum on statehood or independence. PR has them.
**This woman is foolish.**
No. She’s smart.-tip n’ ring.
**This bimbo really needs to get a real job. Somebody should have knocked the crap out of her. What a maggot.**
It won’t be a republican.
Yep.....and I’ve heard kamalalaladingdong vomit that colonialism tripe as well......you only hear it outta blacks.
But let’s not talk about African tribes conquering each other only to be sold to slave traders.
**Can we just give the Virgin Islands to Cuba?**
Got me thinking. Cuba would be a solid red 51’st state. PR to Spain-they wouldn’t want it.
This clown is a NON-VOTING member of the House- a figurehead only, and “represents” the Territory of the US of the US Virgin Islands. That’s it- she has no vote- buuuuut, the dhimos use her to BLAB and Blackmouth the Session and waste time.
She did serve on one of the “peach 45” impeachements, can’t recall which one- but she had NO vote on that committee either. Maybe it was the 2nd one chaired by the Convicted Bribe Taking Impeached former federal judge then Congressman and now thankfully dead— Alcee Hastings. The gold plumbing bribe taking Fed Judge convicted and removed from the bench by the US Senate. Perfect choice to run a fake impeachment.
All US Territories are Territories and NONE are States within the United States of America. By definition. None of them are States, and therefore have “representation” perhaps, but no VOTE within the House or Senate.
Haha, maybe.
The District of Columbia is an outdated anachronism. The Founders envisioned a federal government with a limited role and limited power. They thought the states would remain much more powerful and influential than the federal government. Because of this they feared that having the federal capital in any of the states might lead to a situation where that state could use its power and influence to intimidate the federal government and exert control over it. Hence they granted the new government a territory that was not part of any state and would be under direct federal control.
The power dynamic is obviously the exact opposite of what the founders feared. The federal government really has no need of a sovereign territory anymore, so the best course would simply be to reduce federal territory to the grounds of the White House, Capitol, and other federal buildings in DC and retrocede the remaining territory (including all residential areas with all of DC’s citizens) back to Maryland.
Let’s make Greenland a non-voting member!
Time to give DC territories back to Maryland, except for a small Federal government district.
I agree with that 💯.
But it may require a constitutional amendment because right now DC gets 3 electoral votes.
But I think it's a better deal that Maryland gets an additional electoral vote but it'll be a bad trade off for the Democrats because they'll lose 2 electoral votes if DC returns to Maryland.
So the Democrats need to STFU about "taxation without representation".
Could a rat majority SCOTUS grant statehood to DC?
Probably. But we won't have to worry about that for a long, long time.
I think Alito will step down. So Trump will replace him. Maybe Thomas too.
Other Justices.
Chief Justice Roberts, 69
Justice Kavanaugh, 58.
Justice Gorsuch, 56.
Well yes and no, cirizens of her territory are represented or she wouldn’t be in the congress, their representative can speak for her constituents she just doesn’t have the ability to vote.
You can tell her that. Will she bother to listen?
Article I Section 8 grants Congress the power to establish a federal district but does not require it. Therefore, Congress could presumably pass legislation to eliminate the current federal district. The 23rd Amendment says that the district constituting the seat of government shall be granted electoral college votes. This would presumably be rendered moot if the federal district were to be abolished and its territory returned to Maryland. There is no reason that a federal district is even necessary. The reason was originally that it was feared that a weaker federal government might be intimidated or influenced by a stronger state government in which it was located. This is no longer a realistic fear so eliminating the district would be reasonable. There already are plenty of federal buildings in Maryland and Virginia (most prominently the Pentagon housing the Department of Defense). Why not just eliminate the district altogether?
The alternative would be to enlarge the district by adding to it the suburban areas in Maryland and Virginia. As a state it would be reliably Democrat but Virginia and Maryland might be competitive in national elections. Of course the 23rd amendment would have to be repealed.
