U.S. Virgin Islands Delegate Stacey Plaskett protested the nonvoting status of the Virgin Islands and other U.S. territories Friday— sparking mixed reactions after she accused the U.S. in House floor remarks of having a "colonies problem."
Combined, she noted that the delegates excluded represent some four million Americans and what she said was "the largest per capita of veterans in this country."

On the other hand she’s got a point. Its like taxation without representation, a legitimate bitch that will stick around. The only way to make this go away for good is PR independence and allowing DC residents to vote in Maryland. The Northern Marianas don’t give a $hit about representation.
It’s blacks. USS would disagree.
This woman is foolish.
And so obvious but I think we need to spell out for her, but the Virgin Islands, Guam, Puerto Rico, etc. are not states.
Only states have voting representatives in Congress.
She is a nonvoting delegate from the Virgin Islands.
Doesn’t she know her own legal status in Congress?
No taxes on income earned anywhere. No U.S. federal or USVI inheritance, gift, or estate taxes on company stock. No U.S. federal or USVI taxes on capital gains from the sale of American securities. Benefits guaranteed by a contract with the USVI government for 20 years.
I’d give those territories their seats in the House, but ONLY if we reformed elections to the point of them being totally secure (which I don’t see happening, at all).
“she accused the U.S. in House floor remarks of having a “colonies problem.”
Gee......now where in the world did she get that idea from I wonder. 🤔
This is the 21st century version of no taxation without representation?
This bimbo really needs to get a real job. Somebody should have knocked the crap out of her. What a maggot.
I lived on Guam. They are represented. they pay US taxes but all the money stays on the territory. None of it is shipped to Washington.
Some territories of the United States are not states, and therefor do not have the status of states, thus they do not vote for President, have voting members of Congress nor have other federal responsibilities. There are some federal laws that also cannot be applied to territories and their residents. Its a mixed bag and some territories are quite happy for what, not being a state, is not imposed on them, while their territorial security is protected by the United States.
Exactly right.....she wants it BOTH ways. Eff that noise.
I watched that little hissy for scene. She embarrassed herself. She always does.
Apparently not.
No. It’s already bad enough here in the PRM (People’s Republic of Maryland).
“Its like taxation without representation”
Nope!
Just like every other demonrat.
Her real point is that the Virgin Islands should be a state so that she can vote.
Here’s a trade: We return the worthless Virgin Islands to Denmark in exchange for Greenland.
Can we just give the Virgin Islands to Cuba?
I think they would know how to deal with her.
Scandinavians like warm weather so this trade has legs.
