On the other hand she’s got a point. Its like taxation without representation, a legitimate bitch that will stick around. The only way to make this go away for good is PR independence and allowing DC residents to vote in Maryland. The Northern Marianas don’t give a $hit about representation.
It’s blacks. USS would disagree.
No taxes on income earned anywhere. No U.S. federal or USVI inheritance, gift, or estate taxes on company stock. No U.S. federal or USVI taxes on capital gains from the sale of American securities. Benefits guaranteed by a contract with the USVI government for 20 years.
No. It’s already bad enough here in the PRM (People’s Republic of Maryland).
“Its like taxation without representation”
Nope!
Add PR to Canaduh [-Quebec] as a 51st State.
The District of Columbia is an outdated anachronism. The Founders envisioned a federal government with a limited role and limited power. They thought the states would remain much more powerful and influential than the federal government. Because of this they feared that having the federal capital in any of the states might lead to a situation where that state could use its power and influence to intimidate the federal government and exert control over it. Hence they granted the new government a territory that was not part of any state and would be under direct federal control.
The power dynamic is obviously the exact opposite of what the founders feared. The federal government really has no need of a sovereign territory anymore, so the best course would simply be to reduce federal territory to the grounds of the White House, Capitol, and other federal buildings in DC and retrocede the remaining territory (including all residential areas with all of DC’s citizens) back to Maryland.
Well yes and no, cirizens of her territory are represented or she wouldn’t be in the congress, their representative can speak for her constituents she just doesn’t have the ability to vote.
