I’m missing the “two sides.” It seems like the only side he’s endorsing is that Americans are retarded (to use the term from a post that he endorsed) and that its necessary to welcome foreigners to take American jobs.
Is there a different side that we overlooked?
“So essentially you’re writing off a generation of Americans.
You’re free to do so, but it kind of makes a mockery out of the idea of restoring American greatness.”
I went to college in the 70’s, in Texas. It took about 10-12 years to unlearn the brainwashing. What I got was almost nothing, mild compared to today’s propaganda. Nobody tried to confuse me about what sex I was for one thing.
Mid-six?
$400,000 to $600,000?
What company and are they hiring?
Go do your own research. If you are going to claim no college requires it then prove it. Otherwise, you are just defending such BS classes.
Given the percentage of Americans who are steeped in self-esteem and deprived of critical thinking skills - thank you, public schools - yeah, the “retarded” label is well-deserved. Hell, half the country thinks Word Salad Annie and Mr. Potato Head are fit for high public office!
Still voting for Trump
If Trump gets rid of the DOE and the states regain control of education, things might change.
The drones I am thinking of were indoctrinated in the democrat’s federal DOE agenda.
Companies have ZERO allegiance to you as an employee. The objective is to do the job at the lowest cost. Swapping you for a cheaper foreigner with just enough OJT to keep the operation running is attractive to the bean counters.
“A nephew of mine was talking just the other day about his company outsourcing to India. He said they’re fine as long as they’re following exact instructions. But as soon as there’s a problem they’re completely helpless. They can’t think for themselves to solve the problem or work around it, so they just stop until someone tells them what to do.”
That’s what I’ve seen in my 30 years in tech.
Brilliant!
“At the precise moment that the word “remigration” is on everyone’s lips, the tech CEOs decide it’s the perfect time to try and muster support for the H1B program, thereby running face first into a hard wall of extremely hostile public sentiment.
“Knocked on the floor, a halo of confused little dollar signs dancing around their concussed heads, they sit up, blink, and try to explain that actually they are very smart, and the chuds, who are not smart, just don’t understand tech hiring and the strategic necessity of procuring elite human capital.
“The chuds in fact understand all of this perfectly well, but don’t care. To them this isn’t an economic question. It’s a matter of their homes being looted and invaded for generations, which they are determined to put a stop to.”
Someone on RF posted a world IQ map a few days ago can’t find it now might come in right handy for a peek at it if found.
Actually, the article is depressingly spot on.
America has a massive problem and we need a 12 step program to get back on track.
The first step towards recovery is the realization that you do have a serious problem and making a commitment to turning things around.
It's better to do this as early as possible and before you hit rock bottom.
We are far closer to hitting rock bottom that most realize and the only way we turn this around is the kind of therapy that is being proposed.
Neither of which addresses the issue of how does a country take a Great Leap Forward when it does not have enough STEM graduates of its own to do so? Does it slow walk its way, hoping that 10 or 20 years from now they can nurture and accumulate enough STEM graduates to really begin?
I am S pro America first as anyone BUT I don’t want to see our country stand on principles and get hopelessly left behind. There is a way to solve this issue and it not all one way or the other. We can deport far more than we have brought in or will bring in under skilled STEM workers. We can easily change the immigration laws to make this a more fair proposition for all sides. It doesn’t have to be zero sum. We could offer tax credits for companies that hire US Citizens. A level playing field can be found.
I would NOT TRADE the grade school education I had in a ONE ROOM SCHOOL FOR ANYTHING AVAILABLE TODAY.
One room...8 grades...14 kids...2 outhouses...1 Merry Go Round—NO RUNNING WATER.
How is Musk wrong? I mean, maybe he should be more diplomatic. But he's not because he's on the spectrum.
“Billionaire Trump surrogate Elon Musk endorsed a post on Thursday which suggested Americans were too “retarded” to be hired for skilled jobs. “
Nonsense, he endorsed a post that described the debate over H-1Bs as a bunch of name calling.
In fairness, the chances of becoming a citizen is low. They wait over a decade just to get permanent residency, another 10-15 to get citizenship...so we’re not encouraging them to ‘become American’ and I’d expect that to trickle down to their kids.
If they have any change in employment, primary address, even if the business moves office...they have to go through a bunch of immigration hassles, more paperwork. Even the very good engineers I’ve met from there really have no plans for the long term.
Your story is not uncommon though, sorry to hear that. I saw the same at Visteon in Detroit. Once a flourishing engineering HQ, called ‘The Village’...now a ghost town, only a skeleton crew.
Unfortunately thanks to our failed education system that no longer teaches anything and only indoctrinates he is absolutely correct. I’m not happy about it but it is just as he says.
