Donald Trump ‘eyes deal’ to save failing DC Waldorf-Astoria, turn it back into Trump International Hotel

President-elect Donald Trump is weighing a bid to save the failing Waldorf-Astoria hotel in Washington, DC – and rebrand it once more as a Trump International Hotel, The Post has learned.

Three sources familiar with the situation said that the incoming commander-in-chief’s company, the Trump Organization, is weighing options that include a licensing deal or even possibly buying back the lease on the government-owned, 125-year-old Old Post Office building.

“Our family has saved the hotel once. If asked, we would save it again,” Eric Trump told The Post in an exclusive interview.

The luxury lodge at 1100 Pennsylvania Ave. – just a few blocks away from the White House – became a magnet for GOP insiders, DC lobbyists, and fundraisers after Trump opened the hotel in 2016.

Republican operatives spent $266K there in its first six months alone, according to FEC data.

But visitor numbers dropped off once Hilton, which manages the Waldorf brand, took it over and the real estate mogul ended ties with the hotel, according to an insider.

It is still “to be determined” whether the Trump Organization would want to wrestle back full control of the hotel by buying back the lease it sold in 2022 or agree to a licensing deal, the source said.

Sources close to the property said the president-elect is eyeing a possible hospitality investment in the DC area.

Since Elon is trying to buy near Mar a Lago perhaps the Donald will make the first move out of DC by moving the White House to Florida.

I think that's the right move to do.

Use the White House for ceremonial purposes such as State Dinners with VIPs.

Nobody works there anymore. They all do nothing remotely with 6 figure paychecks and probably have another job as well.

It an iconic building, a landmark, and an echo of a more gracious era when government buildings were often stately. That was before the modernists wrecked architecture for a long period, but that’s a story for another day.

The location, however, is difficult for modern uses. I am ecumenical about modern adaptations. I just don’t know what would work. Was it making money as a Trump hotel?

The hospitality industry in Washington DC has said that they will not serve Trump people. MAGA needs a place to go. Where they can trust the employees to not spit in their food.
Maybe Trump knows this?

“Use the White House for ceremonial purposes such as State Dinners with VIPs.”

I think that’s a good idea. It’s too bad it has to be that way since the White House is where everything should happen. But nefarious deep staters cannot be trusted. They’re why we can’t have nice things anymore.

You can’t go wrong with Fogo de Chao.

I’ve had their weekend brunch and it was a real treat.

Yeah, that myth got shot down in flames on Friday. That dumbass beotch bragging on camera how she wouldn’t serve Republicans where she worked got her ass handed to her when she showed up to work. Stone cold FIRED for her idiocy, and her employer resoundingly repudiated every point in her rabid leftist screed.

You may hear things out of the odd loudmouth or two, but the people doing the work are going to be putting their best foot forward to serve the clientele, MAGA hats or not. First of all, it’s their job if they play stupid games, monkeying with customers; and second, their experience has taught them that GOP stay longer, buy more, tip better, make fewer picky demands, and are just all-around better customers. Absolutely the sort of people waitstaff most enjoy serving.

That will help all the more, but these waitstaff aren’t out there en masse echoing the “won’t serve MAGA” idiocy that got that one stupid girl fired and publicly flamed on Friday.

At worst, they’re like the one bartender who’s no fan of Trump’s policy ideas, but admits preferring to serve GOP customers. Getting to keep 100% of their tips will just be the cherry on top.

Another sign o’ the times maybe? In the days before the Civil War the Yankees would stay at Willard’s and the Southerners would stay at the National.

Interesting I did not know that little tidbit. I knew that Steve Bannon likes to broadcast from the Willard on important day is like the election. Maybe it was a symbolic thing.
