The film from two U.P. brothers following the story of a Wisconsin dairy farmer’s struggle to keep his farm released its first trailer Thursday.

”Green and Gold” tells the story of Buck, a fourth-generation dairy farmer in Wisconsin, and his fight to keep his farm from foreclosing in the 1990s. Buck risks it all to avoid foreclosure by placing a bet on the Green Bay Packers to win the Super Bowl in 1993.

Brothers David and Anders Lindwall are from Iron River and partnered with the Green Bay Packers and Culver’s “Thank you Farmers Project” to help create the film. The film was recognized at the Heartland International Film Festival in Indianapolis earlier this year.

“Growing up just north of Green Bay as the grandson of a dairy farmer and die-hard Packers fans, my brother Davin and I poured our hearts into this film. It’s our tribute to small-town communities and the values they stand for,” Anders Lindwall said.

The movie was filmed in Door County, Wis. and filmed and features acclaimed actors including Craig T. Nelson (who played the coach in “Parenthood”), the late M. Emmet Walsh, and Brandon Skelner, along with Wisconsin comedian Charlie Berens.

The trailer released Thursday gives us the first look at Nelson’s portrayal of farmer Buck and his relationship with his granddaughter who has dreams of being a musician.

Nelson says the movie’s story is relatable for many who grew up in the Midwest.

“This story felt personal to me; I felt a real connection to it because the Nelson family farm has been a working farm in South Dakota since the Civil War, and my wife’s family were also farmers,” Nelson said. “Green and Gold captures the tenacity of small-town farmers and the strength of family and community. I was honored to play Buck and highlight the dreams defining many lives in America’s heartland.”

The movie is set to hit theatres nationwide on Jan. 31, 2025. Show dates near you and merchandise can be found on the “Green and Gold” movie website.

Tissue alert.

Disclaimer: how to sell our family farm to the only buyer, a company that had bought all the farms surrounding hours, Waste Management, after my 60-year-old computer programming dad was laid off and had to take the first job offer to make sure mom had health insurance.

Lupus finished its ugly rain months after she and Dad had to leave the farm, and we kids wondered what part lupus and played and how much was her having to leave the farm.

Farming IS a tough life. If I lost Beau I wouldn’t be able to manage this farm by myself.

I could always do what that neighbor lady did when her marriage ended but she wanted to keep her farm: hire a farmhand then fall in love, marry him, have two ADORABLE twin boys and live Happily Ever After. :)

That said, I am sorry for your loss and I’m still excited to see this movie. Farmers need all the help they can get these days.
