The real thieves step in.
Sorry, I meant to put New York in the title.
In Pittsburgh, you pay when you get on going in and when you get off going out. The downtown area is free.
Presumably, it lowers need for parking and having a car in the downtown area in the first place.
The MTA fare is $2.90 per trip and the cost of housing a fare evader at Rikers Island is $1,500 per day.
Sure, you can arrest and jail fare evaders, but that will cost you far more than the loss of a fare evasion.
“Metropolitan Transportation Authority is planning to spend up to $1 million in federal grant money on a study they hope will help them understand the mindset of the average fare evader”
.
Hey, for a million bucks not only will I tell them what’s wrong with their system, I’ll make a pass by the local hot spots and find a few girls so I can take them to Jackson Hole or Sugarloaf and research why girls like sky resorts.
I’m generous that way you know.
.
What do you expect when your business model focuses on a clientele who can’t afford to take a taxi?
They do not want to pay, know they can get away with it and are basically dishonest.
Do you think New York will pay me a million for my psychological profile of them?
LOL!
“. . . the average fare evader . . . “ jumps the turnstile because he/she CAN jump the turnstile!
All the metro folks need is unjumpable turnstiles!
It is not rocket science!
Use the grant money to install unjumpable turnstiles!
Pay workers rather than “experts!”
Ooh, spend $1 million studying Walmart thieves next!!
WHAT makes them steal???
It’s very mysterious!!
MUSK & VIVEK have fertile ground to clean up.
