“Downing Street said the expert advice on the risks of first-cousin marriage was clear but indicated that the government had no plans to change the law”
Well, that explains london electing a muslim mayor

There are a slew of reasons why closely related people should not marry, but birth defects really aren’t one of them.
Unless there is a dna history of undesirable recessives, the risks to their kids is no greater than any two other people.

Royal Family most effected.
Really the objecting guy is right. Just because they can’t get married it doesn’t necessarily to stop them from hooking up, or breeding. It just means they can’t make it official.

It should be banned, as it does no favors to the gene pool. However, the uncomfortable truth is that, go back 4, 5, 6, 7+ generations, and likely every single person in this thread has ancestors who bred with first cousins.
To: yesthatjallen
Is this ‘a thing’ in the UK?
To: yesthatjallen
Reading British literature, you see first cousin marriage. Not sure how common it is currently with non-muslim Britons.
To: yesthatjallen
Well that is one way to get rid of the monarchy.

Of course a Mohamed argues against it.
People just aren’t aware of the inbreeding that happens in Pakistani Muslim families.

Muslims are notoriously inbred. Pediatric facilities in the UK are overrun with muslim children with various genetic defects.

Both Queen Marys of England (Mary Tudor and Mary Stuart) married their first cousins. Neither had any children.
