Climate ‘scientists’ discover they’ve been underestimating a major factor, and all their climate models are in fact wrong

Climate scientists recently discovered that they’ve been underestimating the impact of a particular organic compound in the atmosphere, and the oversight’s significance is so profound that it’s left existing climate models completely obsolete. As Jo Nova writes, “This is so big, it may change the sacred ‘climate sensitivity’ of the whole Earth”.

Isoprene is what’s known as a volatile organic compound, or a VOC, and “has a recognized role in protecting plants against many abiotic stresses” like “heat stress…drought…[and] oxidative stress” with trees being the greatest emitters. (When the chemical isoprene interacts with other compounds in the atmosphere, the products are a number of secondary organic aerosols.)

Here’s some additional context, from Jo Nova:

To put some perspective on this, isoprene is the most abundant non-methane hydrocarbon emitted into the atmosphere.

And, from a study published in the Annals of Botany and sourced from the NIH:

In the tropics, plant leaves can grow very large, and this creates a large boundary layer insulating the leaf from air temperature, allowing the leaf temperature to exceed air temperature by 10 °C and more. Also, in humid air, heat loss by latent heat of evaporation is reduced. The humid tropics are known to have many isoprene-emitting species….

(Think the Amazon.)

Now, back to the original point, and Nova’s item:

But climate models have … been estimating aerosols in the atmosphere for hundreds of years, and they [scientists] didn’t realize trees made so much aerosol than they thought.

Nova also includes this blurb, from CERN researcher and study spokesman Jasper Kirkby:

‘This new source of biogenic particles in the upper troposphere may impact estimates of Earth's climate sensitivity, since it implies that more aerosol particles were produced in the pristine pre-industrial atmosphere than previously thought,’ adds Kirkby.

FYI:
Professor Richard Lindzen of Harvard and MIT has long argued that this global climate hysteria is the result of a coalition of powerful special interests exploiting flawed logic and relentless propaganda. As he puts it, future historians will marvel at how the world was convinced to treat CO2 —the lifeblood of plants— as a planet-destroying poison. This, Lindzen warns, will go down as one of the greatest mass delusions in human history.

For the last 2.5 million years, Pleistocene to present, the normal has been ice age with brief periods of warmth as we enjoy now. Historically speaking we are still in an ice age as the polar caps have not melted, despite Al Gores rhetoric. They may melt or we could go back to full ice age. We do not know nor do the so called climate scientists. They are actually charlatans.

Man and industrialization have little to do with weather except for locally and not world wide. In terms of CO2 levels they are very low, nearing extinction levels.

ps
CO2 is plant food. If it gets very low we all will die.

I should add, ocean algae also produce a trememdous quantity of oxygen. The majority actually. Oddly the Amazon jungle while producing much oxygen is a major contributor to CO2. When a tree dies it becomes termite food. The termites emit huge amounts of methane as a digestive by product. The methane goes into the upper atmosphere where it is broken down into CO2 and H20.

“”Nature Worship” is at the root of the “Green Agenda”.”

OK—but the worship is totally fact free.

The “saving the planet” plans are just dumb—and don’t preserve anything.

Which goers to show yet again, that scientists don’t know nearly as much as they think they do.

I guess now they’re going to have to figure out a way to make plants produce less isoprene.

Maybe they can regulate and tax them to death.

Future historians will probably be just as corrupt as the current ones.

Screw academia.....and all their billion dollar sports teams too.

If you want a little extra Bible knowledge (note you won't find this anywhere but FR LOL), look at the top graph, the one showing the Holocene Glacial. Find the red hump to the left of the one titled "Roman Climate Optimum". That's the Minoan Climate Warming top. If you look to the blue dip to the left of that, it'll be around 3,500 years ago (depending on who you ask). Following that to the right from that cold bottom to the top of the red is the Minoan Warm Period. That topped out around 11th century BC. Which makes the Minoan Warm Period coincide with the Era of Judges (Moses to Samuel).

Then the Era of Judges coincides with the Greek Dark Age cooling period (starting with the red top to the left of the Roman Climate Optimum, going down to the blue bottoming out). And the Roman Warming Period was going on during the New Testament. It's a good bet that it was warmer when Jesus and the apostles walked the earth than it is now. This is evidenced by the fact that Ephesus was a port city (Paul's letter Ephesians) then, but today the ruins is miles from the coast. Suggesting that the shoreline has moved away from cooling during the Dark Age cooling period and Little Ice Age more than it's warmed during the Modern Warm Period.

As I understand it, climate models have an extraordinarily high number of variables, and the only way to include them in the calculations is to make assumptions. And, the assumptions drive the result.

I've had modelers tell me that for airshed (not climate, exactly) models, assumptions drive the result. I once sat next to a climate modeler in an airliner and I asked him if assumptions steered the outcome, and he agreed.

Isoprenes are natural compounds from plants. "Green" if you will. And from the article, their effect has been way underestimated. Isoprenoid compounds are reactive, the actually cause "smog", specifically ozone production, in addition to others.

Thus, we can say that climate models are, and were always worthless.

And, it's not just isoprenoids. What else have climate modelers estimated incorrectly?

“Okayokayokay… So, the earth isn’t going to get overly warm or cold in the next million-bajillion years. *Whew!* We were sooo wrong about that! Ha-ha! Good thing we caught ourselves, right? BUT. Here’s the deal. We are NOW looking at an ‘Isoprene imbalance.’ M’kay? So, we don’t know if the _imbalance_ is too much or too little—thanks to the activities of humans, of course. Sooo… We’re gonna need to study it. Alot. For a long time. And that’s gonna take money. Alot of money. For a long time. As long as it takes to find out. And we can’t be too careful, so we’ll need to take decisive and aggressive action. Like, NOW. And, of course, that takes—you guessed it—money! Now, I hope y’all have your checkbooks handy…”

Orwell:

“Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.”

Academia is a slave to those who fund it.

The winners write history and science and whatever else they want.

Climate Change

Blahh Blahh!

It was ALWAYS a LIE ! And the so called Climate Scientists knew from the beginning.

It is not about Global Warming. It is about a Globalist Scam.

UN Christiana Figueres “admitted that the goal of environmental activists is not to save the world from ecological calamity but to destroy capitalism”

(http://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/climate-change-scare-tool-to-destroy-capitalism/ (06:43 PM ET 02/10/2015)

“This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution,” she said.

she added: “This is probably the most difficult task we have ever given ourselves, which is to intentionally transform the economic development model for the first time in human history.”

The only economic model in the last 150 years that has ever worked at all is capitalism.

Totalitarianism in All Forms is Evil. All Fail!

Freedom Works, the UN and DC DO NOT Work!

“Maybe we should start cutting down all the trees and vegetation in order to stop it.”

Yes, that’s exactly what we should be doing according to Bill Gates.

“Bill Gates Pushes Plan to Chop Down 70 Million Acres of Trees to ‘Fight Global Warming’”

https://slaynews.com/news/bill-gates-chop-down-70-million-acres-trees-fight-global-warming/

In all fairness there are articles that dispute he said this, but the argument is the number of trees he said to cut down, not that he said it all.
