Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) responded to President-elect Trump’s threat that he would throw members who sat on the House committee that investigated rioting at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, in jail, calling his remarks an “assault on the rule of law.”
“Here is the truth: Donald Trump attempted to overturn the 2020 presidential election and seize power,” Cheney said in a statement provided to The Hill.
“He mobilized an angry mob and sent them to the United States Capitol, where they attacked police officers, invaded the building and halted the official counting of electoral votes. Trump watched on television as police officers were brutally beaten and the Capitol was assaulted, refusing for hours to tell the mob to leave,” Cheney said.
“This was the worst breach of our Constitution by any president in our nation’s history. Donald Trump’s suggestion that members of Congress who later investigated his illegal and unconstitutional actions should be jailed is a continuation of his assault on the rule of law and the foundations of our republic.”
The New York Times first reported Cheney’s statement.

Tripling down on retarded beats doubling down on stupid.
She’s delusional, she’s repeated the lie so many times, she believes it!
Pick a good lawyer, Liz...you’re in for a ride.
You endorsed Kamala and lost, Liz. Nothing you say or do means anything anymore.
Notice how TheDungHill filtered out her “Sanctions” threat.
Even they know her future is over.
Is this a fight she really wants to pick?
She can be mad about the way she believed someone acted; but c’mon, this has gotten weird and obsessive. TDS strikes again.
“Your committee was an assault to the rule of law.”
*************
A Kangaroo Court it was. That rigged “investigation” was an absolute disgrace and affront to the country.
Trump is over the target. Bombs away.
Shut up, Lizard-Breath.
The New York Times first reported Cheney’s statement.
You gambled and lost, Lizard. Time to pay up.
Woman speaks with the forked tongue of a Lizard.
In one speech, Kamala said that on J6, 56 (or 57) police were killed by protestors.
“Trump watched on television as police officers were brutally beaten and the Capitol was assaulted,”
That’s interesting, considering he was in the back seat of a car wresting the steering wheel from his driver then. So which lie are they going to settle on?
There’s a good chance that Kamala was drunk.
I see 1,100 lawsuits against each member of the J6 committee for violating their civil rights.
She sounds like she went to some OTHER rally
The DoJ should not bring charges against any of these people.
Doing so would restrict venue to the DC courts.
Much better to orchestrate lawsuits by the Jan 6 prisoners, which can be tried in the home states of the plaintiffs.
REMEMBER, THE PROCESS IS THE PUNISHMENT.
Lawsuits. Legal fees. And be sure that the damage alleged was of a sort not indemnified by the govt because they were in Congress.
Given this Process issue, you *could* run up their bills in DC proceedings, but only if they are not indemnified.
Liz Cheney is a vile woman. All of her actions as part of the J6 committee deserve to be scrutinized. If she has nothing to hide, she has nothing to worry about - those are the rules she helped make for hundreds of innocent, peaceful J6 protestors and hundreds of Trump administration officials. She can live by those same rules.
