The Good Book is the world’s most widely distributed book. It is also the world’s best seller. And now sales of the Judeo-Christian Scriptures are rising.
The Wall Street Journal reports on this recent up-tick in sales. The headline declares: “Sales of Bibles Are Booming, Fueled by First-Time Buyers and New Versions.” And the subtitle notes: “Publishers attribute a 22% jump in Bible sales this year to rising anxiety, a search for hope, or highly focused marketing and designs.”

Thanks.
The Gideons must be giddy.

Thus sayeth Disambiguator:
“All the modern English language Bibles use the corrupt Critical Text as the basis for the New Testament, and all of them are missing many words and passages.”

The New King James Version uses the TR (Textus Receptus) same as the King James.
The TR by the way was a mix of available manuscripts and in some places the KJV translators reverse translated the Latin Vulgate into Greek then into English because there was no Greek Manuscript available to them.
When the internet first came to my home, I searched and found a bookbinder in Arkansas offering to repair and rebind in leather. I sent my KJV Thomas Nelson “The Open Bible” (1976 ed., given me by my MIL on my 30th birthday). It was falling apart.
The guy in AR got it back to me in about a month — all dog-eared pages were ironed out, and a magnificent, black genuine supple leather cover was on it.
I used that one, making notes throughout, until 1) its pages wore thin and 2) its printed words shrank. I still have it and all my notes I’d written in it; but in 2013 I sprang for a larger print KJV that was on sale at Christian Book Distributors for $11. Now I’ve about worn the cover off it, too.
Christ is our life (Col. 3), and the Bible is our lifeline.
(God, sometimes sends imperfect men)
And here I am 😦😁😇
(which is why my FR homepage....)
This is a great trend. The Bible has played a key role in the life of our nation.
Now if we can only get it preached in the church. The purpose of pastors, teachers, evangelists is to bring the church to maturity. Not serve milk to infants.
gristle needs to be on the menu, it is tough chewing but has good flavor.
Just wish Congregationalist churches were, too...
Amen to that FRiend!
Everything put out since the KJV are corrupt since they used the Hort-Wescott manuscripts, EVERYTHING. Even the NKJV. So even though people are buying bibles, as you said, "which ones?"
If the bible they are purchasing perverts God's Words, they have no hope of finding true salvation using them.
“Queen James Bible”
Never heard of it so looked it up.
Apparently it’s a Bible cleansed of all negative references to homosexuality.
Probably what woke churches use at Drag Queen Sunday School.
Purchases are fine well and good...call me when they start reading them, better yet when they start living it...
New King James also uses the Critical Text. They had to differentiate enough to qualify for a copyright ($$$$).
Yep. It's completely counterintuitive, but getting the wrong, corrupted teachings on the things of God can actually lead someone AWAY from salvation. A lot of church culture things are like this, like emotion-driven altar call "instant salvation" practices. They often provide a false sense of salvation when the inquirer has no real grasp of what it's all about. Just sign on the dotted line, and you're in. Nothing else required.
Might want to read FROM THE TRANSLATORS TO THE READER in the old KJV bibles. My modern large KJV (Cambridge) has it.

It has often been pointed out that the Pilgrims used the Geneva Bible instead of the KJV. I have a reproduction of the original 1611 KJV in Old English Lettering. It is very hard to read. The Geneva Bible was in Italic font and much easier to read.
The original KJV was reproduced in the 1970s in Italic font making it much easier to read, even with the old spelling. The original was updated in 1769 which is the KJV version used today.

If these Bibles are the solid truth and not revised to modern thinking, good news!
BUT PREACH the truth in the pulpit!!
THank God for the few churches that continue in the WORD of GOD!!!
My go to version is NKJV!
