That was a vivid description.
I think frustration sharpens the senses.
I write to satisfy.
It came to my mind some time ago, that a great deal of my inward thinking has been shared on this site, on a great diversity of subjects. So I began to download my Comments as the initial phase of a project aimed at coalescing them into a more intelligible slate of topical commentaries. Over 15,500 replies, some of them modest editorials in themselves, is producing quite a bit of material.
I hope to aggregate and edit all of it down to something I can give to my kids. I hear so often how people through much of their lives never knowing what their folks were thinking; never knowing their musical tastes, sports they played in school, hobbies they set aside for children and careers, why they didn’t think Nixon was a crook, why they thought Reagan was one... For all the conversation there’s not time or opportunity to have, I feel it’s something I can do to give them a more expansive grasp of my thinking.
I don’t yet know how it’s all going to turn out, but perhaps if I am diligent they may be impressed enough to actually read it.
