No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Oh, dear. Poor Soames.
How exciting! Not. Of all things I envisioned, this was not it! LOL!
Sounds like an interesting story, but wouldn’t that be “dumb dust”? I think Congress has already weaponized that.
It was “baby storytime” day, so there were lots of people with babies. I remember when I went to the library with babies.
Good morning, all. Happy Twosday!
It’s not quite a repeat of yesterday. It was 2 fs warmer when I walked the Princess at 6. The foreguessers said today would be warmer, so I suppose they were right.
When I finally got the Wordle word I had to wonder why that didn’t occur to me as a possibility for guesses 2 or 3. But at least I got there.

Just out of curiosity, how did that kitteh get it’s backside out the back of that shoe?
Bumper cars at the ready! Set! Hey! You! Wake up!
That’s cute.
Good morning.
I hope you had a good night. I fell asleep at 1800 woke up at 0615, with about an hour in the middle of the night.
At first, I was dreaming of cross stich and needlepoint wall hangings and their patterns, and somehow, that morphed into being someplace really high, and looking at the fields and farmhouses. Then I got vertigo, and the next thing I know, I heard a text come in. Not from either of my kids, but from a gal at church.
So I decided it was time to get up and start my day.
The wind chimes have been singing since yesterday afternoon, and right now, it’s 36° with wind at 18 mph right out of the north. No thanks. I’m glad my storm door is on! It will be overcast all day again.
Good Morning Folks!
Another chilly overnight but not as low as the prior one... we are in a warming trend already!
Nearly pulled my hair out on this Wordle... of course two stupid mistakes didn’t help... should drink more coffee before going too far...

I don’t think they had such a thing when I had a baby that would benefit from being read to. I just always read to him myself, sitting in the rocker. It was nice!
Happy Tuesday...

In other news, I now know what a “tola” is...
Good Morning!
I think that I learned 3 new words over the past week or so... Foolishly I type something in, thinking, “I really doubt that that is a word...” then they turn over, most often black and yellow, and I have to go and look it up, having just burned a row...
Yesterday, it was business proposals and plans.
Today, a unit of mass equal to 180 grains used for coinage and measurement in India...
IOW... my favorite self defense round is a 10mm 180gr hollow point. Or... a 1 tola 10mm round.
That tickles the brain-pan a bit and I cannot wait now to use that in one of my awkward face-to-face human interactions...
I need to take the trash out, but the wind is blowing so fiercely and it is so cold that I would have to bundle up like the kid in Christmas Story in order to make the short trip.
(I liked it better when I lived in #6...
HaveItoldyouhowmuchIlovemychocolatecoveredespressobeans?Yup!Yup!Yup!
Now I do, too, although I have no idea why I wanted to.
😂
Until you mentioned that word, I had no idea it was a word...
(I often have awkward in person conversations.)
🤣
Indeed you have!
