No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.

I’m a little late today. Someone wanted to pick my brain at 0800. Those brain pick thingies can be nasty. But it’s OK. No bleeding out of my ears.
Mrs. ArGee is incensed that someone at the Dr. office today entered her weight as 70 lbs more than it actually is, which put her as obese in their records. She’s going to the office to give them a piece of her mind and get it corrected.
I mean, with electronic records and everything all we need is emails from medicare on how to lose weight. Mrs. ArGee is actually quite thin.
I checked my records. They’re right.
Today’s Worlde was a bit obscure as well, but not nearly as bad as yesterday’s.

Young ArGee had to take her cat to an emergency vet last night. The last I heard around 10:30 is they had to sedate the cat to examine her because she seemed to be in a lot of pain. I don’t know if Mrs. ArGee received any texts during the night. Unless they found something very fixable I’m sure young ArGee didn’t get a wink of sleep.
The cat is 12. She was a rescue so I don’t know what health problems she has that we don’t know about. I know she dealt with anxiety by pulling fur out and leaving clumps of it on the rug. Young ArGee stopped trying to clean it up because the cat would just pull out more.
The great Canadian air attack is still underway around here. However, despite all the hoopla, people and animals are not falling dead from the air quality.
I’m not sure how this happened, but I’ll take it.

On-call this weekend, so sticking close to home. Hoping some of the bike/jetski parts come in soon enough to take advantage of it.
Still trying to decide if I'm going to gut my upstairs bathroom or not... Only thing left really is the tub/shower surround. Not sure if I want to just get another acrylic/fiberglass enclosure... or if I want tile like I did downstairs...

Less smoke is good! Hopefully it continues to dissipate...
I tried one of those tub-shower surrounds in a bathroom we remodeled a few years ago... had never tried one before, seems to be holding up pretty well... it had a place above the shelf where you could apply tiles as an option, my wife had picked out a small mosaic pattern that came attached to the mesh backing... went on pretty easy and looks great... adds a bit of color to the otherwise drab white surround....
Was thinking something similar... Bathroom was blue and “tope”. Now it’s harvest yellow, white, and black... with a few green accent pieces. Tub is old institutional yellow fiberglass from the 1970’s as is the fiberglass surround.
Want to put in a white whirlpool/jet tub, with recirculation water heater, surround, shower head, and add tile as accent along the top edge and sides.
I helped my Dad do a subway tile in their shower when we rebuilt that for them. Looked good there, but it wouldn’t work here...
Doing all this myself, so I’m keeping in mind my personal skill limits...
Less smoke is NOT good. How will your gubmit show its value unless it’s scaring you to death about all the smoke and then making sure you know what a good job the gubmint did taking care of you during the smoke emergency.
Everyone here is going to die. NYC gubmit is handing out N95 masks.
It sounds like it will be nice... these days, if you are able to take your time and not rush, with watching enough YT videos on subjects, you can do almost anything yourself...
