No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Good morning. Happy Monday. Happy Memorial Day. May those who’ve fallen never be forgotten.
We have the day off today. If things can dry out I’ll mow the lawn. The official guess isn’t encouraging.
I have 2 runs to start the Over.

We went to the town’s Memorial Day observance at the VFW hall. They had an elementary school chorus to sing the National Anthem and a couple of other songs. This greatly increased the attendance of people under 60.
Nice!!
Yes, it was very nice. The VFW rep was a retired Air Force nurse who had been in Somalia, and the American Legion speaker was an Army veteran of Panama and Grenada. “Why did we send troops to Grenada? Just ‘Cause.” But some American troops died in both operations.
Good morning. Happy Twosday!
Our little burg has a very nice memorial area by the lake at the “town” main corner. They hold a very nice service commemorating the lost.
After a very wet 4 days we had dry weather yesterday and we have some sun today. It’s going to get hot again.
Mrs. ArGee had noticed a mouse poking its nose out of a depression next to our garage (outside wall). We set some traps. None caught a mouse but one had all the bait taken. Yesterday a chipmunk was struggling next to our garage people door. It probably ate the chocolate chip and peanut butter from the trap and was struggling with digesting that. So maybe she had seen the chipmunk? Anyway, I carried it gently to some place it could recover. We have a trail cam coming today to watch the hole to see what really lives there. Whatever it is will have to move because we’re having paver stone put down for our garage bins to stand on.
Ain’t life fun?
Two more runs today gives me 4 for the Over.

Odd, your name got mangled in the copy and paste...
Happy Tuesday.
Always feels a little weird coming off an extended weekend when you don’t have any actual “me” time. Spent the weekend with my Family, which was fun... but still a bit too much like “work” at times.
Today’s Wordle caught me by surprise. If my starter word score nothing, I’ve been using today’s word as my secondary word because it gets rid of both the O and the U at the same time. E, A, and Y get taken out by my starter word...
So... Yeah...

It worked like a charm today!
I know what you mean about that kind of family “work,” we didn’t have too much of it this weekend, but some....
I don’t have stats, but I doubt I’ve hit 500 3-row solutions. Nice work.
I woner who got the ping. 😂
Nicely done.
My first and second words get rid of the same vowels - each - as yours. But my second word wasn’t the right one.
Pretty nice catio. We thought about having one, but now that we’re down to only two kitties, both over 15 years old, we won’t.
OMG!! That’s been our life for 30 years.
No kidding. Poor James missed so many vacations.
