No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Sounds like that is it... life isn't always easy for a man with a PW!
Ahh, a rare photo of the mysterious two-headed kitten!
😄
Good Friday Morning!
Having a holiday in the middle of the week always makes it near impossible for me to keep track of what day it is...
So I finally found the time yesterday to finish off the gifts for the neighbors (no, I was not able to deliver them on Christmas Eve as planned) and we drove around dropping them off last evening... just have to finish the one for the neighbor that is out of town, and ours... 😂
I bounced on Wordle from the 6/6 yesterday to this today... I got lucky on row two... not sure how many other possible choices were left unused...

Good morning. Happy Friday! Happy 3rd day of Christmas!
I’m not sure I’m ready for the later days of Christmas. There’s just no room around here for any Lords a’Leaping. And what do the Drummers do during the quiet hours of 9pm-9am?
It’s still cold here. It’s supposed to warm up starting tomorrow and rain is involved. Depending on which happens first, we may have some ice problems for a bit.
I got an unusual break on the Wordle front.

Two sweet little marmalade floofs!
Good morning. Did Anoreth and Dion arrive home safely?
I hope you slept well. I was up and down the first part of the night, too restless to sleep, but finally managed to drop off around 2130. From then on, I slept fairly well but woke up around 0400. Then I decided I didn’t have to sleep on my right side so I turned over and went back to sleep! Silly me.
The Other Folks will be flying home today and this is the first time we were together and no photos were taken. Not even on Christmas, when FS and I had on our “Christmas Tree” shirts! His had different VWs on it in the shape of a tree, and mine had frogs in the shape of a tree. *sigh*
It will drop to 32° before it gets warmer today but will only make it into the low 50s. Rain this AM before it gets light then slightly clearing by this afternoon.
One day next week, I’m going to tackle the pantry and see if I can make organized chaos out of it instead of mayhem and chaos. I can’t find anything and stuff is spilling out onto the floor of the short hallway.
And it seems she is becoming more perfect every time I see her!
I have room for the Lords a’Leaping, but they’ll have to be awfully tiny ones!
I may try for Wordle today. I’ve been lazy, lately.
We’ve had days in the 50s and nights in the 30s since mid-October, and that is NOT our typical Southern Utah winter. It just feels like it will never end.
There’s a monstrous cold front coming into the northern part of the state, and I guess they’re going to get piled on. I wouldn’t mind some snow. But we haven’t even had any decent rain. All we’ve had are sprinkles that turn the dust into tiny mud balls on the cars.
When my children were young I started seeing everything through the little B&W Viewfinder on the camcorder. I suddenly realized I was missing things trying to capture them. So I rebelled. I don’t even like to look at other people’s pictures much because it doesn’t really convey the excitement they were feeling when they took them.
I live life, I keep the memories my brain will keep. I know it’s unconventional, but I like it better for me.
I suspect you won’t forget your Christmas.
🤣
Methodical... Not showy, but it gets the job done.

Tortoise is cool... I was aiming more for pangolin though.
Yay! Congrats!
Good show!

I’m soooo close to 00s...
I’m there!!!
