No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Happy Saturday! (even though it’s over)
Speaking of over - I got 3 more runs today giving me 17 for the Over.

Mom passed away Friday. We were there for her. She is now at peace after suffering Alzheimer’s.
I am sorry for your loss, nully, and I also respect the completion of your journey with her.
Thank you.
Closing time, every new beginning
Comes from some other beginning’s end
Yes, that’s true. It’s sad anyway.
Sorry for your loss. It seems to me to be a blessing when those with Alzheimer’s don’t linger long in their suffering. My FIL passed within about 4 months once his condition worsened...
👍🏻
Good show, old chap!
Mom was in home hospice care for over three years, and here for about eight, for most of which I was her guardian.
The progression was slow, and gradually sped up.
This year (four months) it accelerated, she lost words, articulation, and went to mostly gibberish. She got markedly weaker difficulty walking and standing. Then the falls started, mostly into a chair, onto the bed, or when we were close enough to intercept. She’d crumple which would absorb a lot of the energy land on the relatively soft carpet and be OK.
Friday she waited until one of us took a biology break, snuck into the kitchen, poured herself a cold afternoon coffee, abandoned her walker and tipped her head back to take a sip, went over and fell like a tree, breaking her humerus at the shoulder.
After the orthopedist’s evaluation Monday, she wouldn’t get out of bed, and began refusing water. She made it to Friday afternoon.
We were there when she passed, as peacefully as one could hope, she simply stopped breathing and that was that.
I’m glad you were able to be there, Nully.
I’m sorry for your loss.
🙏
Ouch, I didn’t realize that it had been going on for such a length of time... For some reason I thought it was all pretty sudden, sorry about that...
Good Monday Morning!
It was nice to see the sun over the weekend, and it looks like it is still with us today...
That cat is also enjoying some morning sun on the balcony!
Close, but no cigar...

Happy Star Wars Day! May the fourth be with you!
It’s a crisp, bright morning here. They’re guessing a high of 72 today, 80 tomorrow, then rain will cool the temps again.
I totally wiffed yesterday’s practice Wordle. I managed to get it in 6 but it was definitely “Phew!” Today I got 2 runs to start this Over.

Ha, I had heard of that in the past, but had long forgotten about it... Mom's birthday is (or was, she passed away almost 10 years ago...) May 4... that is the dominant memory for this date for me...
Maybe your mom was The Force! 😂
Star Wars day... Happiness.

May the Fourth be with you, friends.
I got a call saying my granddaughter wanted to see me at the Walmart, so I went to Walmart. I needed dish soap, anyway.
Soon maybe your granddaughter will want to see you at the beach or the pool or something fun like that.
