No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Good morning. Happy Friday Eve!
It’s a rainy morning. The warm weather has broken for today, but it will be back tomorrow if the guessers are correct.
The second landscaper got back to us with ideas for bushes but not a quote. Mrs. ArGee responded and now we’re waiting to see if the first landscaper was high or if it’s really going to cost a lot.
Ah, the joys of catching up on 25 years of house maintenance in a year. We haven’t even begun talking about the estimate for the HVAC unit replacement.
I’m not having one of those late-inning comebacks in Wordle Cricket. Today’s 2 runs give me 6 for the Over.

Good Morning!
It is raining! Yay! Started at 4:35AM... I was out on the back porch to hear the first drops hitting the porch roof...
Decent Wordle today...

Just the TV series. I wasn’t even aware there was a book series until the show had run its course.
... and, it’s Thursday. There’s snow on the ground again. They did another headcount reduction at my work today. Over the last year and a half, they seem to have one of these a Quarter. “We don’t anticipate any further reductions...” over and over again... There’s literally only two of us Field Engineers left in this Market and they’ve already said they won’t be promoting either of us to fill the now vacant Senior position.
Same pay, a lot more work, dwindling chance of promotion.
Disappearing to Alaska and communing with the bears is sounding better by the day.

Bad math. Today’s 1 run gives me 5 for the Over.
I don’t watch TV but I do watch clips on YooToob. The visualizations are interesting but I think the story lines and execution in the books are better overall. I only had that one complaint.
Good morning. Happy Friday!
After a high in the 50s yesterday we have a guessed high of 76 for today. Mother Nature seems to be having hot flashes.
I probably need to get out F-I-L’s lawnmower this weekend. There’s a lot of the lawn that’s not really tall enough, but a lot that might be. Even though it’s Easter weekend, it needs to be looked at.
I need to go to owrk but I’d rather be going back to be. Ungh.
I need my starter word to be the Wordle word tomorrow to have any hope of rescuing this Over. 2 more runs today give me 7.

Good morning. We’re having a bit of a drizzle. Would be nice if it turned into a real rain this evening or tomorrow, when it wouldn’t interfere with anything I have planned.
Good Friday Morning!
We ended up with 0.34” of rain yesterday for which we were all grateful! The guess is for more tomorrow.... 🙏🏼

It’s always nice when weather cooperates with our plans. I wish it were more common. :)
I remember thinking of rain as a great pain-in-the-neck when living in NYC. People who normally walked jammed public transportation. The walks to/from subway entrances were a literal slog. Not to mention getting around the capitalists standing outside the subway entrances selling $3 umbrellas for $10 to those who were not prepared.
I had to remind myself that rain is a miracle that keeps us fed.
If only our vaunted scientists could figure out how to send it from cities that don’t need it over to farmlands and herdlands that do.
Happy Friday. Good Friday.
Over cast. Cold. Snow we got has already melted, but it’s still icky outside.
Family events this weekend, so giving the house a scrub down in between work events today.

Yes, but it reminds of our insignificance. At least I could see the moon last night and early this morning, before it clouded up completely.
Ya, rain is pretty darn important... don’t they need it is the cities from time to time to wash everything down real good?
Ahh, yes, we need to do a pretty thorough cleaning before Sunday’s dinner... Enjoy!
Mom turns 80 tomorrow. BiL turns 58 next Tuesday. Sister is hosting Easter dinner, so we’re doing a combo birthday meal at my place tomorrow. Spread the fun around as they say.
Insignificance, or extreme significance since the Creator made everything for us.
I wonder what the City would dream up if rain didn’t dust off the buildings every so often.
Building owners are required to keep the sidewalks clean outside their buildings, and the Dept of Sanitation sweeps the streets (and plows them in the winter).
And in the midst of all of that, Integrity is on its way to the moon to “embrace the dark side.”
