No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Most adult snakes can go weeks between meals, especially in cold weather.
That’s right... it can be quite some time... I guess depending on the size of the last meal somewhat...
Good Monday Morning!
It was a pretty nice weekend here, looking forward to our promised rain... starting on Wednesday.... 🤞🏻 We really need it!
Heading to traffic hell in Austin later today to pick up some relatives flying in from the Netherlands... they will be staying for a couple of weeks... trying to get an old mountain bike in shape for the younger cousin to use...

Way back when I wanted to keep a pet snake. When Mrs. ArGee found out they eat live mice she nixed the idea. But while researching I found that sometimes if the snake is full the mouse will actually attack the snake and can win.
When living in Texas I was always conflicted about the People’s Repubilc of Austin. It’s a very nice place but the politics ... Hopefully the Iranian sympathizers won’t be out and about.
Good morning. Happy Monday.
Hopefully March is treating everyone well. I can’t believe we have to change the stupid clocks again this weekend.
Actually, it’s Congress that’s stupid, not the clock.
We have a winter weather advisory for tomorrow morning. Then warmer with precipitation through the week if the guesses are correct. They’re even showing a high of 76 fs on Saturday. We’ll see.
We finally found out where the mice had hung out while we weren’t living here. I spent the weekend cleaning up. Only one bit of actual remains, which was quite old. We have someone scheduled on the 11th to seal some cracks in the basement and deal with water leaks. He’ll be dealing with the spot we suspect the mice were coming in as well, so hopefully that will take care of it. I put some traps out just in case.
I didn’t have such a great Wordle weekend. Today was a little better.

Ann Arbor has been the capitol of Michigan since the 1960s - and that problem is all of:
- drug
- “empowerment”
- “pride”
- unwillingness to reflect upon itself
related.
Well, here we are... Monday again...

I never kept a snake large enough to dine on mice... when I was a kid I used to have some garter or ribbon snakes now and then that I used to give some chopped meat...
I plan on missing most of the mess by coming in to the airport from the back side... Hopefully it will work out!
We are looking forward to getting the clocks reset at this point... not only are the inside puppies waking up too early, I find that I am starting to be wide awake way too early for my liking as well... Our internal clocks shouldn’t be messed with like this...
Back to work today?
Yeah... Ewww... 0/10 stars. Would not recommend.
Not as bad as last year though, I’m only having to wade through 127 emails this morning.
😂
Unfortunately, the alternative to owrk is using other peoples’ money. So, as much as I would prefer to be able to earn money by posting on FR, I’ll have to continue to manage software development projects.
Belated Happy Birthday!
Good morning. Happy Twosday.
So far our wintery mix looks a lot like rain. It’s 31 fs out there now, so I suspect it’s a concern that what fell on the roads earlier will freeze there, but it was no issue when I walked The Princess.
We’re supposed to get our treadmill and spinning cycle today. Hopefully the rain won’t delay that.
Wordle was shaping up to be a long slog, but I got a lucky guess 4.

Good Morning!
Trip to the airport and back was relatively painless owing to the route that I took to avoid the traffic centers... their flight was actually early and they were out of Customs very quickly...
Not sure if it is related to the happenings in the ME but I did notice a lot of K9 patrols and more than normal human security...
I did have a long slog this morning...
