Elementary school evacuated after student brought “historic unexploded ordinance” for show and tell

Good morning. Happy Friday!

We made it through Thanksgiving. Mrs. ArGee’s idea of a holiday involved moving furniture, but we also had a nice dinner. Everything was going well until we discovered a drip from the electrical input to the garbage disposal (groan!).

We were going to be looking at a new sink anyway, so now we have a timetable.

Well, we made it through as well... you would think that at our ages we would know better than to overeat like that... sigh...

I don’t think I shared this. On Wednesday, after the electrician corrected one mistake in my wiring the light bulbs still wouldn’t light. About 30 troubleshooting minutes later we found that a 3-way switch had physically broken. At least he didn’t charge an arm and a leg. And we had a well-lit kitchen for Thanksgiving.

Glad that it all worked out and he didn’t sock you with a big bill! I’ve seen a couple broken switches over the years... some companies make some real shoddy products... something to keep an eye open for now that you know that one has stopped functioning... obviously the more frequently used switches are the most prone to breaking...

Oddly, I didn’t even remember this fixture had more than one switch. Mrs. ArGee spoke up and said, “There’s one in the dining room.” We actually found a 3rd while probing.

I made potato cakes for breakfast.

I snack on dried fruit throughout the day. I put maple syrup in my oatmeal.

It’s not that anyone begrudges me different food. I’m just to lazy to prepare anything but oatmeal or cereal w/milk in the morning. I don’t even bother with the toaster-oven, although if we had a pop-up toaster I might have something toasted.

That story hits. I had a kitchen faucet that was dripping at the slip-on 3/8” tube fitting that connects the pull-out sprayer with the faucet body under the sink. I shut the whole thing off, took the corroded fitting connection apart, polished both of the brass tubing ends with 1200 grit sanding film, lightly greased it, and reassembled it with a new fitting. The moment I turned the water back on it was spraying all over under there.

The corrosion on the faucet tube extended too far to permit the new fitting to seat.

I ended up getting a new faucet.

I hate plumbing.

We put the gravy on the turkey. We may have to cook potatoes to use it up, though.
