No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
It took much longer than we expected to settle my mother’s affairs, even though she had organized extremely well with her attorney and financial planner.
Wow, that’s a pretty neat process… I had no idea that they sold kits like that!
Take a picture of yours when it is ready…
I don’t know… hard to know as he sleeps in his crate in our office…. He pretty much always sleeps through without waking until morning….
I’m just not enjoying waking up 40 minutes early at this point…. And certainly not interested in waking up 1 hour and 40+ minutes with the time change….
Will do... I have 4 more straps to attach and then form the leather. Problem is... the 12mm rivets are good for 2 thicknesses of leather... but not 3... You can’t get the rivet head to upset the way it’s supposed to. Hence ordering some more.
This kit was for a 45”-60” chest. I measure out right now at 54”...
Glad that you mentioned that they are called Chicago rivets... the kind with the screws...
I need to look for some short ones.. my daughter and SIL gave me a nice knife with a Damascus steel blade for last Christmas... I used it several times for hacking through vines a stuff, but the first time I put the sheath loop on my belt, a rivet holding it together just basically fell out...
I need to try to repair it....
Some mornings ours will randomly ask to get on the bed about 30 minutes early. Because of the siezure risk we have to put a waterproof cover on it so I get up and spread that out, then go back to bed for the remaining 30 minutes.
Other days she just sleeps through.
Amazon has some... but you’ve got to arm wrestle with the search engine to find the right ones.
“May the odds be ever in your favor...”
....the secret is out.
That’s cute. I’m sure the cat hated it.
Good morning. Happy Friday Eve!
I can’t imagine a cat sitting still for that.
Mrs. ArGee is making plans for not being in town the next time her brother visits. We have to take care of the cash we’d been holding for him and the keys to his storage room. He says he’s coming out early next month, but he hasn’t booked the flight yet.
This evening I’m going to pick up the rental van from Home Depot so I can leave tomorrow to take stuff to Young ArGee. I won’t be on tomorrow.
Once again, when faced with 2 options for my penultimate Wordle guess I chose the wrong one.

Morning All... Happy Friday Eve...
Still cold, wet, and icky here. Heading up to my Sister’s lake place this weekend to pack up the pontoon boat and winterize all the Family’s Summer toys. Should be fun.
