No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Bob!
Good to see you. What Snews?

Good morning. Happy Friday Eve!
I guess there’s one biker who isn’t going anywhere for a while.
We got our switch to fall weather. It was 42 fs when walking The Princess this morning. Today’s guess for a high is 56 and the guess for a low is 27.
Young ArGee apparently had asked a friend to store some cabinets when she lost her large classroom. (Yes, she had used personal cabinets in a classroom because the school hadn’t supplied enough storage space.) So now that friend wants the space back in her basement. Mrs. ArGee doesn’t want to store them and Young ArGee doesn’t want to rent a storage room so Young ArGee is going to call a junk removal service. Such is life for a schoolteacher.
Decent Wordle today.

Maybe someone would buy the cabinets and haul them away?
Good Morning!
It was noticeably less crowded in town yesterday, maybe I will switch days in the future... although the grocery store didn’t seem to be fully stocked...
So-so Wordle for me today...

I’m not sure if she has the time to go hunting for buyers.
Anyway, the person who is storing them said she’d take care of getting rid of them so all is well.
👍🏼
I imagine you’re twitching considerably after your recent storage issues adventures.
I’m looking at similar problems with my house. It’s too full of stuff and there’s no room for doing the renovations it requires.
Lotsa books and stuff, ya know?
Oh, I hear ya’. It’s probably too expensive to rent a container to keep in your driveway for a month or something like that. And decluttering takes a lot of time, particularly as everything you’re looking at to see if you want to keep it sends you down memory lane.
If only we could find a way to not collect it all in the first place. But even in this “temporary” living situation we’re moving back with more than we brought here.
Good morning. Happy Friday!
We had 30 fs when The Princess and I went walking this morning. They’re guessing it will get up to 60 today. I don’t know if this nor’easter is going to hit us this weekend. They’re guessing some rain Sunday night into Monday as of now.
Mrs. ArGee didn’t find any frozen carrots when she went shopping yesterday. They’re part of our dog’s diet so we usually get a few bags. She went to 2 stores. Is something going on with the carrot crop right now?
I can’t claim anything clever in figuring out my 3rd Wordle guess. It just was the next word I tried. But it got me there.

Good Friday Morning!
I don’t know about carrots but we have been having a hard time finding cottage cheese in stock... apparently it has become a real popular item with younger folk... 🤷🏽♂️
Yet another four spot today, seem to be in some sort of rut...

Good morning, everyone. Frank wants to be taken to the library, so he can work on an English assignment. However, he is having trouble remaining vertical long enough to get dressed.
The reason he wants to do his work at the library is to eliminate the opportunity to fall accidentally back into bed or over on the sofa.
Sunny, but cool here. I talked up the Viking Fest so much my Parents wanted to go... so... taking them tomorrow. Ought to be interesting.

Sounds like a good idea to get him over there... hopefully he won’t doze off sitting at the table.... 🤞🏻
Hoping that they enjoy it!
I can relate to Frank.
I always wanted that system George Jetson had where his bed would spring him up onto a platform that would roll him into an already hot shower, then straight through the closet where he came out dressed.
