No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
I’m glad your campout went well.
I can relate to forgetting things. I have a terrible memory. Of course, today I can put reminders in my phone. When I remember to do that it helps. Maybe Vlad can put reminders in his phone.
Good morning. Happy Humph Day!
B-I-L is home. We’ll get the bed and desk/chair he used while he was here out and the house will be ready for the new owners. Well, I think Mrs. ArGee will do one more cleaning pass when it’s empty and THEN it will be ready.
The Princess’ liver numbers have gone back up. So we’ll be putting her back on the daily steroid dose (sigh).
Back to a 4 at Wordle.

Sorry to hear about Princess’ numbers... hopefully they will go down again soon...
Good Midweek Morning!
I’m sure that there will be a couple of heat flareups before Fall fully sets in, but it has been very seasonable here of late... Nice and dry, not too warm...
Managed a so-so Wordle outing...

This steroid worked before. We were just hoping not to have to give her a daily pill for the rest of her life.
Ya, I get that part...
Is it hard to get her to take the pill? We have to give ours tablets once a month, and it can be a real challenge for a couple of them....
Vlad pointed out that we didn’t tell him to take the trash out, which is true.
When we first got weekly trash pickup a few years ago, I made a Calendar alarm for Monday evenings with two reminders….
Even though I pretty much remember now every Monday in the late afternoon to wheel the cart out to the road, I still have those alerts going off….
Wednesday again? Who keeps allowing this?
In other news, I need to go back to doing my “time mindfulness” meditations.

Grey and icky day here again, but warm... Hoping the remaining parts for Abby come in and I can get her rear tire reinstalled in time to go for a ride later.
Once she’s off the lift, than I can change the tires on the Honda and see if that rides right after two years of working on it randomly...
Sounds like you have got a lot of projects going to keep you very busy...
Pretty much the same here... I had to rebuild two hydraulic cylinders for the front loader, one bucket and one boom... good thing that I finally got that done as I have 25 tons of crushed limestone dumped in the driveway that I need to move around... about 1/2 of it goes to filling in holes and low spots, and the other half gets piled up to be used as a base underneath the footers that I need to pour for the addition...
But first I need to open up the fence and install a larger gate to get this gravel to where it needs to be piled...
She’s pretty good if we get it poked back far enough. She doesn’t beg for the pills but she doesn’t fight us. She WILL spit it out if we don’t poke it back far enough.
We already give her a daily liver pill and a daily dose (2 pills) of a probiotic.
At least this pill is very, very tiny.
What happens when you don’t tell him to eat?
That is good that she cooperates…. The little guy and big guy pretty much take whatever we give them…. The Aussie will take it wrapped in a pill pocket or something similar…. However, the Border Collie-Pyrenees mix is super fussy and suspicious… his stuff has to be ground into a powder, mixed with some bacon grease, and sandwiched between two pieces of rolled up roast beef….
Is that his version of “a spoonful of sugar”?
Pretty much... thankfully it is only once a month...
That doesn’t result in his not eating. To be fair, he eats every day, not just on Tuesdays.
If I don’t remember Monday night, I see the neighbors’ bins out on Tuesday. They tend to pick up in the afternoon here.
