No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Happy Thursday! Was expecting to wake up to rain again, but... nothing... If I don’t see rain, I’ll need to water the flowers... and maybe the lawn. Lawn isn’t looking thirsty yet, but...

We’ve had some threats of rain, but nothing falling here... been needing to do a lot of flower pot watering of late...
I’ve had to do some watering of the estate lawn. It is pretty stressed right now due to nobody living there now and F-I-L not really having watered much last summer.
Good morning, Tax-chick!
That’s quite a cat castle!
I hope you and everyone here is doing well!
Thank you. I thought I was teeing it up for someone else. Imagine my surprise ...
This thread is full of surprises!
Nice!
Good one.
I’m doing great, and as far as I can tell, others are good, too. I love the cat castle, but we don’t have any pets right now. Perhaps in the future, when we don’t have resident children ...
How are you?
I’m sure I’ll feel weird, not being in the giant van, but I’ve been driving the Altima during the summer while Vlad wasn’t in school, so I’m a bit used to it.
We had a 3/4 ton van in Houston. It got rear ended by an F350 pulling lawn gear and actually had its back door dented. (Nobody hurt). So my insurance company rented us a Geo Metro.
My son said we should buy a Geo Metro and keep it in the back of the van as a spare.
I’m doing great, too. It’s time to retire but unfortunately the calendar and the IRA don’t agree.
Your son was right.
He’s a pretty smart young (or not so young any more) man. I wish he had been smarter about the relevance of having God in his life. But you can only lead the horse to water.
And hope that someday, they say, “Oh, here’s this water!”
Good morning. Happy Friday!
I feel like I’m about to be fired.
This looks to be a quiet weekend. I’ll probably have to mow the estate lawn. I tried to water it this week and we had some rain so maybe it will look a little less stressed.
My Wordle adventure was pretty ordinary today.

Text message from my BIL that just came in:
So, Scout found a skunk this morning. Seems like he must have grabbed it by the haunches and got sprayed directly into his mouth. Choking stench when he opens his mouth, no smell when it's closed. Sometimes I wonder which parallel universe, exactly, I live in.
Today's Wordle pattern looked a lot like yesterday's...
