No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.

69 and Sunny now... At one of my usual clients, trying to get my head back into the work thing. Got home last night from the lake and have already waded to the junk mail in my mailbox and the spam mail in my email box...
Supposed to be beastly hot later with another chance of severe thunderstorms... Last night was kind of a dud at my place, but a gorgeous dark red Sunset that was ominous looking. I loved it.

We had thunder, lightening and abundant rain last night. Jump scared the dog a couple times, but he didn't bother to get up. We even had some flood warnings.

With that kind of omen, I’m not ruling out the end times.
I think fishing and relaxing are parallel concepts. I’ve heard people actually fish for work, but it’s hard to imagine.
True, mostly, in the recreational sense... however, commercial fishing is a horse of a different color....

The realtor we wanted to list with seems to be slow-walking the contract. Either that or getting it signed isn’t a priority for her right now. Either way, it doesn’t bode well. We may list with #2 choice instead. She wasn’t far behind #1 and she seems to be taking this listing far more seriously.
Summer is still hanging out here. The Princess is asking for her long walk earlier in the morning so as to avoid the heat of the day. My mother used to say, “Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noonday sun.” I guess The Princess would agree.
I haven’t solved the Wordle yet. I’m on guess #5 with no ideas at the moment. I’ll share when I do (or fail).
That is a bit strange... usually they move very quickly to get everything signed and the listing up... illness?

I think there’s one of two things going on.
She has a lot of very active listings that are taking up her time.
She has a lot of much higher priced listings, and this one isn’t s important to her.
I haven’t been putting in the time. I did try one word that I don’t think should have been accepted. It gave me some information.
