No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
It is very good of them to offer. It’s hard for children to do things in the daytime, because they’re at school.
Good morning. Happy Humph Day!
We have rain. The foreguess was right for once. But it’s warm-ish so that’s not so bad. The Princess also got right down to cases on our walk so we didn’t have to be out in it too long.
M-I-L has a nasty sore on the side of one toe. People are blaming the fall she took a couple of weeks ago. I’m thinking it’s probably just that she won’t let anyone take care of her feet and shoving them into the shoes she wears makes the toes rub together. Anyway, Mrs. ArGee is thinking it’s time for a visit to urgent care and she’s NOT HAPPY. Not that I blame her.

Make room for Da King!
Good morning. I hope you had a good night.
I did but probably because I was awake until 2100 +/- 10 minutes.
Only two of the boys showed up but they were quiet and well-behaved. The guy who was with them was encouraging them to talk by opening the conversation with the fact that the boys went to the bakery to see how it was set up and then they got to make the cookies they brought over. A dozen all together — six chocolate chip and six snickerdoodles.
They were a little underdone, but they were still tasty! I’ll have some with my lunch. The boys were excited by the bakery outing. I don’t blame them! Bakeries are fun!
I’ve nicknamed them Mutt and Jeff. Jeff is a bookworm, saying “you can’t have too many books!” Mutt was very quiet. Well, they both were, actually. Good boys.
I asked them all, the guy included what their favorite thing about Christmas was and they all said, “having family come to visit.” It took me a while to settle down after they left, but that’s OK. It was nice diversion.
It’s 29°. It seems like we’ve had really cold nights forever, but it’s only been three months. Winter hit us overnight in mid-October, and there was no warming up from then on. Maybe spring will hit us the same way. I hope. I never thought I’d get tired of longjohns, but I am!
Wow! After the good showing I made in Dogpatch, I’ve come down to this??

Monkey Face has entered the fight...
Congrats!
Thanks, but it’s not a bit in keeping with my scores in January of this year!
I have to learn the ins and outs of the game all over again!
Give it time. It will come back to you.
I hope so. This grates on my brems. ;o]
I have 100% faith in you... <3
Thank you, sir! You are too kind! 💖
Now I have to live up to that expectation!
The Lawn Guy spent about three hours yesterday, blowing leaves into monstrous piles, and today, he’s going to spend at least two more hours vacuuming them into mulch to be taken somewhere. Maybe the dump.
This is the same guy that is a fireman every 48 hours. His wife is the manager here, and has three boys at home to care for, and she does the books for her husband. To say she is a busy lady is an understatement!
More than anything, it is always a lot of fun... my scores regularly bounce from one extreme to the other...
It’s got to be the most unpredictable game I’ve ever played, so it’s going to take a while before it begins to feel comfortable!
Good Midweek Morning!
Got down to just around freezing here overnight... frost in the pastures, but no ice on the stock tanks... sunny warmup for today...
Looks like I got on the same Wordle path as you did, ‘Face...

I find the biggest variable to be how the solution word maps to your starter... can be very helpful, or confounding...
Who wants this one? It is coming up fast....
I’ll pass, but I’ll tee it up.
Hit it!
