No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Wow. There mush have been a lot of wreaths! It’s been years since I had a wreath on my door. The first Christmas my husband and I spent after we were married we went to La Mesa where my mother’s only sister lived. I had never met her, so it was awkward.
By the next Christmas, after another tour of WestPac, I read one of those women’s magazines and made a wreath out of a paper towel tube, aluminum foil, and a curly ribbon. I was cute, but just not very big!
Sad news. I remember trussell.
That’s what the Haitians say...
Yep, blessed with a cast irony stomach...
Good morning. Happy Twosday!
That rain we had foreguessed yesterday came down all fluffy and white. By the time I was done with work it was mostly raining. I drove through some slush to make sure the in-laws’ driveway was clear. I pushed some slush off. I also finally got their TV cancelled.
M-I-L had a pretty active night after a few nights of decent sleep, so we haven’t solved everything yet. Maybe we’ll just have occasional bad nights.
I had a good Wordle this morning.

Good Tuesday Morning!
So the other issue that arose on Sunday night got solved nicely by midday Monday... the new Pyrenees that M-I-L got a couple of weeks ago had dug out under the gate and escaped ... M-I-L discovered it when she got home...
Since she didn’t return by morning, we all were out looking for her most of the morning... shortly after noon, I heard someone calling down by the road... I went down there and there was a woman in a small electric car of some sort, with the missing Sasha in the back seat! Apparently the dog had wandered to her home Sunday night and spent the night on the porch... the woman had tried calling the vet number on the collar tag, but since it was an old tag and not a new one for Sasha, they were unable to help...
So she was driving around looking for someone that knew who Sasha was... the look on M-I-L’s face when she came out and saw us with her was priceless!
Been a long time since I had such a good Wordle start to the day...

Everyone needs a box of kittens to start the day!
Good morning. I hope you slept well after all your activity yesterday. Did all the wreaths find new homes?
I was a slug. The only bad thing is my pill schedule. I either miss one entirely and forego Second Breakfast, or I cram them together and eat one meal on top of another. I try to keep the hypoglycemia away by having little meals about four hours apart, but today is going to be tough to figure out. I’ve never slept this late before, so it’s all new territory. Twelve hours altogether.... *sheesh*
I’m glad nothing is planned for today except to put the dainties away!
Lawn Guy is here, so I needed to get up anyway. Mostly now, he’s just trimming and pruning, and collecting leaves. That’s a monstrous job, the leaves thing. This place probably has thirty trees or more, not to mention the shrubs and bushes. But Lawn Guy takes care of all of it, plus the big lawns all by his onesie.
I need to go get dressed. I can’t lollygag today!
Sun’s been up for a while, just got around to checking the temperature 10°F, the ‘pond’ is frozen over.
Yeah, I get it. We’ve got a frosty 32° right now, with a high, maybe, of 46 Fs. How did we get so lucky? We’re desert country, we’re not supposed to be this cold! Said newcomers everywhere!
I need to go drop something off today, but I think it’s going to wait until tomorrow. Wednesday, it will be a little warmer so maybe I’ll wait until then.
Shiver me timbers!
At until it’s lease warm enough to melt the ice on the road!
Ok... Weird... Somehow I clicked on the mail link and not the post link...
Tuesdaying a Tuesday... Snow coming in and a cold front.

Keeping on, keeping on...
OK, Guys...I’ve been thinking about doing Wordle again. Actually, for quite some time.
My scores will probably be pretty dismal for a while, so if I decide to do it, I hope you can bear with me!
Of course... You all have been kind to me through my trials and tribulations.
“We’re all in this together.” /Red Green Show
But you’re a friend and a FRiend, so that makes you doubly worthwhile to care about during trials and tribulations! As I recall it, there were times when you weren’t so keen on me and that’s OK...Newbies are such pests!
So I’ll check it out. Again. Not saying how soon, and nothing is guaranteed about the consistency of my attempts, but the least I can do is make a showing.
;o]
It’s no problem. As you can see, our scores wax and wane with time.
It ain’t a competition, unless we start up Wordle Golf again. And even then, we don’t be real money.
It’s been a very busy day here, but we’re all home now.
Somehow, I can’t stop the days from being cluttered up by things to do and people who need seeing.
I got a phone call this afternoon, and was asked if some of the younger boys from church could come by around 1900 and bring me a plate of cookies and see if they could do anything to help me.
ARRGH! Do people actually function after 1700? Wow. I told them there wasn’t because I they don’t know where to put things, but they could certainly come with their cookies, if they wished. My house is SO not ready for company and I’m too tired, because of the BP meds, to clean it like I did before the docs started to experiment with the meds.
They were going to stay outside but the nights are really cold now, so I’m going to see what I can do to make room for them to sit. *sigh* *face palm*
I love those little guys! They are so grown up-acting in church and so serious about these kinds of things, the least I can do is let them sit.
