No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Afternoon! I walked a neighbor’s dog this morning - supposed to be Kathleen’s job, but I was up - and was going to feed the cat, but there was no cat food. I had to go to Walmart and get some. You should have heard what that cat called me.
I told him that, even with the shopping trip, he was getting breakfast earlier than if Kathleen had done it, but he didn’t buy it.
It is often difficult to reason with a cat….
Oh, my! What a cutie!
Good morning. Happy Monday!
We survived the funeral ceremony. The Russian Orthodox have a 90 minute service with lots of repetition. But the eulogy was very nice. I had to miss most of the gathering after the ceremony to come feed and walk The Princess. Apparently that’s when the sibling stuff happened. But they got through it all.
We got B-I-L and his daughter to the airport yesterday. Mrs. ArGee’s cousin had come so we had dinner with her and her husband. They leave today, so we can start getting back to normal while learning how to probate an estate.
As a side note, for our Wordlers, M-I-L had been a nurse when she was working, which was Saturday’s Wordle word. In B-I-L’s words, that was a little trippy.
As for today’s puzzle, I’d still rather be lucky than good.

Glad that it all worked out well... and that you were able to miss the sibling stuff!
And I agree with your B-I-L that was a bit trippy for Saturday’s word...
Good Monday Morning!
Hoping that everyone enjoyed the weekend... it is looking like our cloudless, dry, sunny day streak is coming to an end... a lot of cloudiness foreguessed for this week, with rain for the weekend... we shall see...
Let me know when y’all want to start another golf round, and what course you’d like to play...
I got very lucky today as well...

(Could have been an Eagle if we were playing!)
I tried to look up to see if there were any great mini-golf courses but it seems those are a dying breed. All I got were links to games for my phone.
Moday.

Had a good weekend though...
A dying breed but super expensive... for the life of me I can’t recall where it was, but we took a bunch of the grands to one of those “super” mini golf places and I almost fell over when they told me the cost for the 7 of us to play!
🤣
A good weekend is always good to have!
(My Wordle weekend was a bit down and up... had a 6/6 on Saturday and 3/6 yesterday...)
Some of the meetings I participate in make me think that the person who came up with he voice of Charlie Brown’s Teacher must have attended similar meetings.
All I can hear now is Whah whah whah what.
I remember hearing voices like that in meetings... I still hear them on occasion if Mrs. zz is watching certain youtube videos and I am in the same room...
It’s 67fs out there. That’s not too shabby considering it was snowing on Saturday.
Can one sue Mother Nature for whiplash?
Mother Nature says, “Bring it on!”
The way things are now, they will say that you don’t have standing….
Well that makes zero sense. I’m standing rat cheer!
And besides, I made that joke about three thousand posts ago.
And it was in poor taste then, too.
At least the sibling stuff is done, right? Or will they have to work together on the estate?
My sister-in-law sent me a form to sign earlier this week. The State of Florida has finally, for certain, and absolutely for realsies decided my mother is dead, which converts her revocable trust to an irrevocable trust and required my signing a form. It’s been 2-1/2 months.
