No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
I’m almost not sure we should start today, but since I’ve already played, I’ll post my score.
It sure doesn’t feel like a good game day.

Sorry to hear that. “Face” may you RIP in peace pain free.
Condolences to the family and her close FRiends at FR.
Morning!
I thought about that... but I do believe that ‘Face would want us to stick with our plans... One of the things that I will always remember about ‘Face was that she was a real Wordle Whiz when I was just starting to play....
Based on the timing of events, I guess I see this round as the ‘Face Memorial round...
I got off to a rough start going one over on the opening hole...

‘Face grew up as a military brat like I did. Then she became a military wife. The wanderlust never really leaves you when you have that background. We had talked about that. She had that restlessness and it can make you a little crazy sometimes.
She loved fiercely and was very much loved. She will be missed.
But now she has found that perfect place.
That she has. The long journey is finally over.
May our friend be in peace and joy now.
I have observed about Mrs. ArGee that she probably has a much better imagination of the perfection of the World to Come than I have, which made her much less accepting of the imperfection of this world.
I think ‘Face had the same imagination.
I agree with both of you.
Amen!
Nothing yet. Please let us know if her Daughter has something we can do to help remember her.
Agreed. Still find it getting dusty in here from time to time... but clear enough to see the numbers on the clubs...

The Viking Kitties still come out to play. Bikkuri has kept that timed-honored tradition alive.
We still occasionally dance upon the scorched remnants of miscreants. :)
I, too, appear to have something that keeps getting in my eye.
As sad as it is, I am thankful that she didn’t fall in to one of those long-term suffering situations.... it would have been miserable for her....
Agreed.
I know the LDS Church takes good care of their members, but it’s hard to imagine even a good Church congregation taking as good care of someone as Mrs. ArGee takes of her mother, and she’s right here in town to do that.
I think long term care would have been very hard on ‘Face.
Yes, that is a blessing.
I’m picturing her joyfully reuniting with all of the loved ones she had lost here on earth, including furry friends.
This place will never be the same without ‘Face.
It’s getting closer to a reasonable time to text. I figure they’d be exhausted from the emergency travel.
(I believe) 2 V.K.s and 3 Zots this week, but none were their threads (I actually didn’t check..and am on iPad now, so won’t be able to until I sleep/wake up later).
If any of them ARE, Whomever will take over for our dear Monkeyface will be more than welcome, I am sure, to move over there when ready,.
I am sure she is keeping God company while keeping an eye on us down here.
Yes, many of us know how difficult it can be when you have close family in the same county…. Her kids being out of state would have a hard time helping her out…
Yes, pretty much impossible. They both got there before she passed away, at least.
I texted her daughter about an address for cards or flowers.
Oh, that’s great that they were able to get there in time…
Thank you T-C...
