No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
👍🏼
That is where you want to be!
Sometimes we see that things are “out for delivery” early in the morning… we are happy if they actually arrive on the same day… sometimes they arrive the next day… must be a heck of a long route!
Errr, can they get two then!
🤣
Good Morning. Maybe stress is eliminated by streatching?
Prayers that all is well and good for you and yours, TC, and prayers for all and everyone on and visitors to FR.
Good morning. We are all fine, thank you, and hope you are the same.
This morning, Vlad and I will pick the van up from the mechanic and turn in the Avalon for diagnosis. (The obvious problem is that the driver’s door handled fell off, but I’m sure there’s more.) Then, Kathleen and I will go uptown and get my granddaughter for the day.
Good morning. Happy Friday Eve!
I think I’ve figured out what day it is.
I’m back at my normal work space not much the worse for wear. My voice is a little hoarse. I’m not sure why it would be. And I overslept because I forgot I had turned my alarm off yesterday. Mrs. ArGee is acting like I’ve completely ruined her entire day, which always makes my morning fun. But it was a good meeting to have gone to, even if it did mean leaving here at 4 and getting back after 10.
Apparently M-I-L had a normal day yesterday.
Sometimes at Wordle the word I think to try is very obscure. I wonder why that is. But at least it didn’t cause a high score this time.

Must have been all of that socializing at the meeting in the big city!
A visit with a granddaughter sounds like a great way to spend the day. Have fun!
Good Morning!
We had a surprise string of T-storms roll through last evening... I guess it is that time of the year...
Interesting row two letters... then it came to me...

I read that as grandfather, until I saw your response....
It’s interesting how our own situations can cause us to misread things. I do that sort of thing all the time.
Frozen ride to client this AM. Was dead on 32 degrees when I left the house at 6 AM. Turns out my heated vest only works for so much comfort over a 130+ mile trip. Made without freezing anything important off.
Currently 53 degrees going to 65 later today. Should be much more comfy...

I actually wore my coat to Gotham because it was cold enough to need it here. But it wasn’t really needed there.
Much more comfortable ride home. ..

Ya, I just thought: nice, she is picking up her grandfather for the day!
Good morning. Happy Friday!
It’s supposed to get up to 60 fs today. Maybe it will be warm enough to melt that ice block that keeps my recycling bin from being level. I keep expecting it to fall over in front of my garage.
The difficult caregiver’s last shift is tonight, although she doesn’t know it yet. I’d like to be able to give 2 weeks’ notice, but we can’t take a chance that she might not treat M-I-L well because she’s being let go. Not a good situation.
Today’s Wordle should not have been this hard. I blame the time change.

Long day yesterday. A 250 miles on Abby... the first 113 of that in 32 degree temps at 70 MPH... literally lost feeling in a couple fingers a few times. Not sure I would do that again without better gear. Bike ran fine though and the much warmer ride to my second client of the day and eventual ride home after dark were not only comfotable, but enjoyable.
Happy Friday Ya’all...
