No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
I hope the day passes without more mishaps.
So do I! Thanks!!
The world needs more hold music options. Just sayin’.
Well, there weren’t any more mishaps, but it’s for sure that it was a day.
I’ll have to talk to the gal who does my laundry, because it seems she’s making more working for me than she intends, I’m sure. She folds my clothes and puts them in the hamper and I have to unfold them and put them on hangers. I don’t know how to tell her without hurting her feelings, but I just take them from the washer, put them in the hamper, bring them home and hang them up.
She also insists her lasagna isn’t spicy, but yes, it is, and I don’t dare eat it. I don’t know how to tell her that, either.
*sigh*
So. I wrestled with my clothes, and then wrestled with the groceries when they came and forgot they were coming — I had also not put up more water, so I’ll have to do that tomorrow and try to rearrange the grocks that came today.
Then I remembered that Tracy was supposed to come Thursday and sweep my floors and vacuum, but I won’t be here because I have an appointment with Jeff. Ohwell. Maybe that’s best.
So that has been my day, and now I’m going go throw in the towel and head down the hall to beddy-bye land. Maybe I’d better set my alarm for the morning.
Take care and have a good night!
I think it would be okay to explain that you’re going to hang your clothes, and it would save work for both of you if she just put them in the hamper unfolded. I think it would also be okay to explain that your digestive system is extremely sensitive and can’t tolerate any added flavorings at all.
Good morning. Happy Twosday!
Hopefully the guessed warming trend will start today. And just as hopefully, the upcoming freezing dates won’t happen. I guess that’s all too much to hope, but I’m ready for spring.
We’re going through a re-org at owrk. There’s a big re-org meeting next week that it would be good for me to attend in person. But it means a long day away. If nothing happens here then it would be good for me to have gone, but if something happens it would not have been worth it. I need a better crystal ball.
Wordle was ordinary today.

I second that. As one who tries to do nice things for someone else, it’s more hurtful to find they accepted it without really liking it as to have them say it wasn’t right for them. She wants to help. She would’t want to find out it wasn’t helpful.
Being thrifty is a principle of the Latter-Day Saints. I'm sure she doesn't want to waste money, time, and effort by making food you can't eat.
I just wouldn't use the word "spicy," because that has no clear meaning. You can say, "My digestive system can only tolerate the blandest possible food, with no added flavorings of any kind."
Rainy transitioning to snow later Tuesday...

Good Morning!
Hopefully this blowing mess of watches and warnings keeps marching to the east without causing any damage...
Very odd Wordle today... dumb luck prevailed on row 3...

Dumb luck is my friend.
I don’t know about Smart luck. I don’t know if I’ve ever met her.
I’ve always assumed that it was to emphasize being totally clueless about the issue, and just stumbling into an answer or desired result… certainly was in this case!
Time for a smirk break.
🤣
I’ve actually visualized that in the past!
Good morning. Happy Humph Day!
It’s raining out, but it’s already 36fs with a guessed high of 51 so I’ll take the rain. It will remove snow faster than just the warm weather.
M-I-L is looking like a completely different woman. She’s still not ambulatory but she sits up a little better and talks a little better every day. She recovered from her last ATI so fast it made our heads spin. At this point she looks like someone who could live a few more years. That’s good but it’s tough for people like young ArGee who has to remain prepared to leave at a moment’s notice. It’s a lot of work for her.
The Wordle outing was a little better than normal today.

Good Midweek Morning!
I hope that everyone survived the storms intact... we had some incredible winds... but even the greenhouse survived...
Made a boneheaded error on row 3, but came out okay...

I’m glad your mother-in-law is doing better. And congrats on the Wordle.
