No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Excellent! But. Yes, something like what you experienced over this last week is a stressful thing, whether we realize it or not. Emotionally, physically and mentally, it can send you into fatigue, so please, take all the naps you can, when you can. Keep your appointments and meetings to a minimum until you feel up to dealing with them.
REST!
I’m going to go get dressed, but I really do want to lie down and take a little nap. Maybe I will!
And maybe I won’t. But I’m tired. So...
One of my friends came with her husband. He hooked up the TV, sound bar and DVD player in the bedroom and she took my laundry and may come back this afternoon with it all clean, and with some meals in tow.
So much for lying down for a nap!
I’ll take some pills and then go veg out in front of the TV, and will see if I can get the print heads clean before Adam comes to pick up the outgoing mail. Talk about frustrating!!
Sorry about your print heads. It was nice to be with the choir, of course. Then I had a nap. Now Tom is here doing his laundry, and I’ll have some tea and then write a soil quiz.
I still can’t get the print heads to cooperate, but there is a solution that I’ll have to check online before I do. I don’t want to damage anything in the printer.
...
Looks like I’ll have to get a print-head cleaner kit, which is not a bad idea, in view of past history. It should be here Monday, so I can clean the heads and print my letter to Charlie and hope I don’t break anything!
What fun! My life just gets better and better! :o]
Technologies, gah.
Cute, Nully!
Good morning.
I hope you got a good nights sleep last night.
I think I did too much on Friday, because I really wasn’t feeling well, yesterday. My legs are tired this morning, but I will wait for tomorrow before I do the assigned exercises. Sunday is not the day to re-start them!
But I did sleep well last night and will take a shower this morning, and hopefully feel much better afterwards.
Tracy is coming later with my clothes. I have enough food for a week thanks to her, but she wants to do it all...clean, make meals, do laundry, etc. That doesn’t leave much for others to do if they want to serve, as well.
She’s well meaning, but possessive.
Chip was up on the counter last night, and knocked a paper bowl to the floor with about 1/4 of a cube of butter in it. It landed right side-up, so that’s OK. Hopefully, he saw it as a booby trap, and won’t do it again.
I try to keep the kitchen sink area relatively clean, but I have to wash dishes, and so far, I haven’t felt up to it. I haven’t since before I went into the hospital. *sigh* Maybe tomorrow, when I have to stand there and do exercises, I can do them and dishes at the same time!
Life is fun!
This is a clean an sparkly ‘Face coming to you right after the shower I took all by me onsie! I was a little apprehensive, but I did it, so the next thing is to get rid of the folding chair so I can stand up during the entire shower.
Progress! Exercises will begin again tomorrow and I’ll include a couple for my back that seems to have weakened during that week of being in bed, when I was too weak to even sit up. Were I 20 years younger, this would all be a piece of cake. I’m not, so it’s a little more involved than it should have been.
However, I am optimistic and as I keep saying, I’m not going down without a fight!
I have to put bottled water in the fridge today because I drink so much of it, and I don’t like it at room temp. But that will be the only thing I do in the way of “work!”
Time for Second Breakfast and an uplifting talk, and the day will be mine for the duration!
Many things would be easier if we were all 20 years younger.
Even ten years would be good enough for me!
I’m currently watching a thing on the Beefeaters and the Tower of London. Fascinating!
Good morning. Happy Monday!
We got over 6” of snow Saturday night into Sunday morning. The Princess doesn’t like having to go through such deep snow to find a spot for her “business.” Apparently there’s lots more coming.
Fortunately B-I-L had made sure their snowblower was working properly. It’s the first time I’ve used it this winter. It’s just not worth the effort for the normal 2-3” we’ve been getting.
Wordle was difficult for me today.

Cute kitty!!
Good morning. I hope you had a good night’s rest!
I have an appointment at the pain clinic this morning but it’s later than I usually get. Still Linda came over yesterday and brought me some chicken salad and a croissant, “in case you feel like eating” but no, I got a little ill while she was here.
She did say she would try to change her nail appointment so she could drive me to the pain clinic, as I still don’t feel up to driving. I hope this doesn’t last long....
We have had NO snow this year, not even on Pine Valley Mountain, and not even a good soaking rain. So our water levels are going to be pretty low for the spring and summer crops.
The manager and her oldest son came Saturday and thinned out the iris bed, so it looks nice under the living room window. She also propped up the hand rail, because it is so wobbly, but it will have to be re-bolted down, soon.
I don’t think my brain is capable of a Wordle, even now. When I got so weak during the weeks leading up to my hospital stay, I couldn’t even spell properly, and most posts I wrote, I had to check and double check. Not fun.
The hopeful thing is, maybe they will up the Wordle to six letters, when they’ve run out of five letter words, just to keep it going!
-7 this AM, but sunny... Have a cold week ahead.
Having a rift at work... My managenr and our coordinator were cut... Reporting to someone else now. Had a couple of clients who had rifts as well... one of which laid off 20+ people on a staff of 130.
‘Tis the season.

Do, DOGE found you?
(derp) That should have been *So* rather than *Do*.
Nope. DOGE proof... 100% private with only a few minor public sector contracts in my market.
However... I completely forgot I was supposed to be on vacation this week. Was displaced from two weeks ago when I was double-booked for some training I wanted to take...
So... once I’m done here on this client site... heading home and back into my PJ’s...
