No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
And me? I slept really well, last night!
I did wake up, as usual, because of pain, but this time, I was back to sleep in 45 minutes, and slept the rest of the night.
Thank goodness my memories of the hospital and it’s not-so-gentles awakenings is becoming a thing of the past!
I ventured outside with my cane, yesterday, and put the new windshield cover on the Raisin. It’s a nice snug fit, this time, now that it has elastic around the side mirrors, so I won’t worry about the wind whipping it around.
I also had my first session of PT, and gloriosky! The swelling in my feet and legs has almost disappeared! BUT! What used to be beautiful “dancer’s legs” have now become chicken legs.
Hard to say. The numbers are changing so fast it's just a blur.
Whatever that number is at the time the CR expires, it will be broadcast loudly by Trump’s administration to justify his firm stand for a real, lowered and balanced budget, including many budget cuts.
Trump the Troll will doubtless release that number to the penny and defy the swamp rats to audit it publicly and openly!
In this, the average American will side with him.

I know that it may sound strange to those that still have cold weather going strong, but the last two evenings we’ve had to run the air conditioning to get rid of the excessive humidity in the house... daytime highs over the past few days have been around 80° so turning on heat or lighting a fire in the wood stove isn’t an option...
I thought that I had a chance for back to back 2s.... but not in the cards...

My neighbor has run her A/C for the last two evenings, as well, so...
However, I just opened my front door and let some of the cool come in. If it’s too warm, then I’ll open the back door and lift the storm window a bit and get a cooling cross breeze.
I’m not about to bump my power bill up just yet!

Ha! I’ve never done that…. rode in one a couple of times when one of the kids arranged for it…. But don’t know how to do it myself….
Why should I? This area is NOT Uberville Country. It’s cowboy country, and I just have to call the sheriff if things get bad and he’ll round up a posse to take care of my Light Work! ;o]
