Elementary school evacuated after student brought “historic unexploded ordinance” for show and tell

No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.

One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.

The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:

Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.

Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.

Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,

It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.

But, she added:

Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.

Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.

The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.

‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'

Not an easy task by any means.

The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"

This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.

It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.

I have to admit that I’m ready for the other side as soon as they’ll have me. I’ll stay here as long as it’s ordained. But the minute they call me, I’m going.

I’ll trust Jesus and the angels to take care of anything I leave behind.

As Mrs. ArGee likes to say, prayer doesn’t change God, prayer changes you.

Most people don’t realize that God has His own timetable, and the more we try to force His hand to do the things we want, when we want and how we want, the more He is quietly saying, “Not yet, Child. I’ll give you the blessings as I see fit, when I see fit, but they will all be for your benefit.”

Some of us understand that and say, “Thy Will be done,” while others of us throw tantrums of sorts.

In the end, we are all changed by getting closer to God. Mrs ArGee is absolutely right in her perception!

Most people don’t realize that God has His own timetable,

It is easy to get impatient with someone to whom a thousand years is like a day.

Exactly so! I always try to preface my prayers with, “Thy Will be done.” It makes it easier to relax and wait. :o])

Speaking of marsh madness, looking it up last night, the current CR expires on March 14th. This will probably be a great WINNING show.

Things we might see;
Demand for a real budget rather than another CR, after too many years.
A BALANCED budget is demanded.
Ever increasing DOGE revelations used as leverage.
EXTENDED fedgov shutdown as a realistic probability.
Leftist whining and moaning and probable propaganda protests.

Popcorn futures are trending upward

Good morning. Happy Friday Eve!

It was 8 fs when walking The Princess this morning. But it’s supposed to warm up considerably today. Apparently there’s weather first. We have a light snowfall right now that’s supposed to turn to freezing rain followed by rain. Ain’t February grand?

My external monitor appears to be going on the fritz. The top is too dark to use right now. That’s something I don’t want or need. But I guess that’s life.

I had a decent Wordle outing today.

Does anyone have a running total of the fraud and spending abuse uncovered by DOGE so far? Whatever that number is at the time the CR expires, it will be broadcast loudly by Trump’s administration to justify his firm stand for a real, lowered and balanced budget, including many budget cuts. In this, the average American will side with him.

Discussing just the Dep of Ed with a friend yesterday;
An astonishingly high percent of funding never leaves DC.
I envision that the DC funding mostly evaporates and is distributed directly to the states, with the possibility of Republican governors considering this money and mitigating school district’s assessments on homeowner’s taxes. Set in motion, this real life tangible property tax saving would ensure many more MAGA voters in coming elections.
