No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
It will work just like the File Explorer, so you can delete files just like you would delete them from your hard drive.
Or, even better, you can right click on the drive in the left pane and there should be a "format" option which will just reformat the thing. It won't bleach-bit it, but it will keep most nosy people from trying to look at your old, deleted stuff.
Yepper!! Although some things still come by UPS, USPS and FedEx, Amazon should be handling it all by the beginning of summer.
That means that they will deliver on Sundays, if I’m not careful. I really don’t like that, but it is what it is. In my mind, Sunday should be a real day of rest for everyone, except first responders and medical, etc., personnel. But that’s just me.
Anyway, I’m excited! Thanks again! (Awesome guy!)
That’s good. I’ll have to copy that and make sure I keep the info handy.
Yeah...I remember reformatting. And defragging. And all that stuff I haven’t had to do for so many years. I really wish I hadn’t tossed my DOS/HTML notebook! So many instructions in there that I wrote down in Fluent Geek and can’t recall, now.... :o|
Speaking of strange commands, this is an oldie but a goodie. The frog is the one sharing the strange commands.

And, to those of us who were in the thick of the OS wars, this was hysterical.
Wellnow, said absolutely nobody.
That was, erm...interesting?
Slightly humorous, slightly risqué, but otherwise, just what I needed!
Anything to make me laugh and forget the last week. It was too “bright” when I got home, and wouldn’t let me sleep, expecting all night for the hospital specters to come in and do their appointed interruptions. Maybe tonight, things will calm down a bit.
I need sleep!
And I’ll get it, too!
Wonderful! How did that come about?
Wonderful! How did that come about?
That brought back some memories!
Good Midweek Morning!
Finally have things settled down somewhat on the home front so I am able to run out for a shopping trip today... looks to be very cloudy, but no rain in the foreguess...
Lucky start to the day on the Wordle front...

Good morning. Happy Humph Day.
It got much colder last night than the night before. And we’re expecting freezing rain and snow (in that order?) tonight so I’ll have to put some salt down on M-I-L’s driveway.
We haven’t had any big snows. But we’ve had a lot of little ones this year. It’s time for that to stop.
I beat par in Wordle, but not as good a score as Z.

Thanks for the kitty, ArGee!
Sleeping seems not to be a strong point with me anymore, but it’s gradually coming back. I managed seven hours’ worth last night, even though it was broken in the middle by almost three hours of minor insomnia. Still waiting for the night-time pokes, jabs and fondling of the nurses, aides, phlebotomy, and respiratory therapists, I guess. I hope it eases soon.
My bed is so much better than a hospital bed, it isn’t funny. In fact, for a second-hand bed, it’s the most comfortable thing I’ve ever slept on. So sleep should come quickly and easily. It does. But long about three to four hours later, the pain sets in and I’m awake for a while.
Still, looking forward to a new day and more progress, so I can catch up with the sleep later on.
:o]
Good morning!
We had two or three “warmer” days, and now the trend is dropping again. That looks to be the way it will go for at least the next week, but this is a sign that weather patterns here in the Great Southwest are beginning to get back to normal.
Which means, by March, we should have trees that are mostly leaves, with lots of pollen! Oh my poor car! I HAVE to get the windshield cover on it asap or I’ll be looking through a greenish-yellow haze of pollen on the windshield!
I don’t do well with lack of sleep. Unfortunately, that seems to be the norm these days. It’s not really possible to just sleep in until I’m ready to wake up.
Good Morning!
Yes, we are supposed to cool down some at the start of next week... unseasonably warm right now... at least we won’t be getting the messy, icy stuff going on the Mid-Atlantic region...
I was away for 8 days and the weather warmed up here, I could notice the start of a lot of patches of grass starting to green up.... not sure if we will have another freeze period before Spring is sprung...
I get it. I was that way for the most part, until this ugly hospital stay. But I guess I was mostly on my way out rather than mostly staying in, which is why they took such meticulous care of me.
They didn’t miss a trick. When they realized my blood count was still too low after two pints, they added a third. And monitored. And checked. And re-monitored. Until they were happy that I was stable and was going to stay on this side of the Veil, rather than go on over to the Other Side.
So in a lot of ways, I’m very grateful to everyone I came in contact with. I just wish that contact hadn’t been so long!
It seems a luxury to sleep solidly all night, like I did in my 30’s and 40’s. After that, things got tricky. So this is me, trying not to complain, but trying instead to tell of my “adventure” in matter-of-fact terms. Don’t know how well I’ve succeeded in that, though!
I thought the weather in Germany was probably the worst I ever experienced until I spent those almost-two-years in AR. I don’t see how my son has done it for so long, but he loves it there, so more power to him!
I spent close to 35 years in Vegas, mostly because of the heat, so AR was a horrible experience. Even Del Rio, with all its quirky Texan weather was nice compared to Dogpatch!
Now that I’m back in the High Desert, I want the dry heat, again. This winter has been the strangest that folk can ever remember. We’re talking life-long residents. So yes, we’re ready for much warmer weather!
(This means, if I’m going to set in a supply of Sander’s Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels, I’ll have to do it quickly and make sure I have enough to last through the summer. Otherwise, they’ll just be a clump of chocolate caramels all melted together, and not able to be extracted.)
I don’t want that!!
I agree, dry heat is the best.... I prefer dry cold as well!
Yes, I bet that those chocolates don’t arrive in good condition when shipped during hot weather!
Happy Trump Day...
